Thank **** Simmo's gone. Chronic ball control, he seemed to be playing with a rugby ball whenever it was passed to him. Terrible goal scoring record, no threat at all. A poor man's Craig ***an.
I see what you mean then, however he apparently does only have 1 year left on his contract so if possible they would be looking to recall him and sell him to us for a couple of million rather then let him leave for free in the summer.
How does Oxley continue to get his contract renewed? He never plays and is always injured? Has he got dodgy info on somebody higher up?
Pity about Simmo, I'll always remember being directly behind the goal at Bramall Lane when he finally seemed to be finding his feet and linked up superbly with Cam Stewart in that match. I always thought there was more he offered other than just the expected goal-scoring, (work-rate and creative play seemed reasonable). But it's true that he's not really up to PL standard so it's probably for the best. Wish him well.
That has traditionally been true and I know of a previous youth coach who used to refer to him as 'glass back', but as far as I'm aware, he was fit for pretty much all of last season, which is probably why he got another deal.
I think he went to Burton, played pretty well for a couple of months and broke a finger or hand or something. He seems highly rated and the times I've seen him play I was impressed - at Winterton last year you could hear him shouting at the defence all the way through the game, so hopefully we get him some game time next season somewhere.
No, it means we have to bring in one or two quality strikers on PL wages with our remaining strikers as backup.
For me, I always thought that Simpson was better as an attacking midfielder playing just behind the striker rather than an out and out striker.
I think this list is the players who've been offered contracts, not necessarily signed them isn't it? So Simpson being released means he hasn't even been offered a deal doesn't it? That's a poor explanation but read the wording and you'll see what I mean. Anyway I'm pleased with most of this but it's a shame about Simpson. You just know he'll turn up somewhere else and start scoring for fun. He's got all the attributes but it's just never happened for him here.
Lewis Clarkson was a bright up and coming talent. Can't remember remember where I heard this (might have been on CI or Amber Nectar) but he was released because of bad attitute - he then went on trial with Wolves and impressed them. After lining up a 2 year contract for him, they put him on the wing for one game and said to the reserve team coach "I'm not a f**king winger". His pending contract was later terminated
Oxley is a good GK when fit. Maybe the medical team have finally found a miracle cure for his glass back. Lol. I think Simpson gets bad press and some fans are on his back all too easy. He works very hard for the team but if the club can get in Charlie Austin for similar money to Simmo then the club has to let him go sadly, imo. You can think ? WOW, congratulations.
