Anyway I expect Red Bull to join forces with Honda, or they have an ace up their sleeve and have got somebody like Audi doing it for them. That or Red Bull have pressured the FIA enough to be allowed to make it's own F1 engine if they supply to other teams.

Infiniti leaving is just a sign that Red Bull are leaving Renault/Nissan rather than them jumping ship with performance.
 
10:29 Alonso has lodged a couple of very slow laps. A 2m11.413s and a 2m03.277s. Presumably nothing wrong as he's stayed out, but part of the programme.

Cooling issues? Couple of slow laps needed to bring temperatures down so he can carry on with the race sim?
 
Last year, laptimes in the first stint of the race were in the high 1:41's. So far Alonso is lapping in the high 1:42's - I know there's less fuel but the minimum weight has increased by 50kg which (I think) means the overall weight at the beginning of a race is the same as last year. Really impressive for 2014 car to have that pace.

How much does 50kg add to laptime? About 1.5 seconds? If so, it would mean that the 2014 cars are 2.5 seconds slower in qualifying than last year. Really impressive!
