that would be because Vettel was at STR, and won a race in that midfield car, and RBR relying on the aging Coulthard and useless Webber.

i don't why it should be surprising, F1 has had a constant "Hamilton deserves to win" general consensus literally since he joined F1 (it's not exactly a well kept secret), surely you must see how annoying it is for people who aren't part of that group and have to listen to it every year; and also know when he does start his period of dominance, the vast majority of complaints about the sport will disappear, i'm sure in an incredibly shameless fashion by the judging of how giddy people already are at Vettels misfortune.

Kobayashi has managed over 50 laps today, what are they doing that RB and STR are unable to do ;)

I think slow and steady will have big gains in the early part of the season.

Didn't Vettel have a V10 engine that year?

13:10 Our colleagues at LAT captured this from one of Daniel Ricciardo's early laps.

The bright orange spark isn't a camera glitch, it is something flying off the back of the RB10.

I think if you look at the packaging of the engine the Caterham has massive space round the engine. So I am guessing that the cooling on the Caterham is actually up to the job of keeping a 'limited' Renault within temp limits. Caterham may not be very good aero wise but great cooling wise :D
Maybe Red Bull should have a look at the Caterham :D

It's true what BamalamafizzVaj says and there's no beating it around the bush, a majority of F1 rivals (not fans) would love nothing more than just to be in the Vettel's fans shoes when it comes to winning. Sooner or later the buck will be passed onto them whoever dominates and the need by the other side for a consistent rival will be desired to beat them. Though I think it applies to the Alonso, Kimi + Ferrari fans just as much as the fans in Britian as I had to listen to months into the 2013 season in how Alonso was the true world champion of 2012 and Vettel was just protected by the FIA with the yellow dashboard of Brazil. Kimi we get how he should already be a triple world champion and say Alonso and Schumacher were lucky etc... This will never stop in F1 no matter who wins or loses.

So for example if Chilton, Lewis or Button dominates the next 3 years ratings will go up in Britain and hail it for it's fair play rules. F1 drivers will very likely win Sport awards by the BBC and Sky as they go along. While in Spain, Italy and Germany the ratings will go down and the complaints will come in to change the sport again or just punishing the leader with a massive regulation change to hinder them more and the word 'cheater's will be used a lot. The longer it takes the FIA to stop a dominance period, the more the voices will be expressed and the larger the boo's will be directed at the drivers and team.

Hold me to it, it wont take long for the next 'Devil' to appear out of the shadow to replace Vettel's reign if Red Bull are unable to return to full strength for a few years. I'll give it until the end of 2015 if one team dominates the same treatment Vettel and Co. had to endure for 3 seasons. You might be surprised as well since Mercedes could actually make things much worse than 2011 or 2013 ever was this year alone.

All I want to see is a mixed bag of results, I don't mind Vettel winning but him doing it all the time is boring, especially when his talent is somewhat irrelevant due to the cars capabilities. Everyone moans, it just depends on who you support as to who's the anti-Christ of the sport. Sometimes its fun just to sit back and watch people arguing ridiculous points <laugh>

Of course I'm just pointing out if they think this regulation change will affect how F1 has always worked will be heavily mistaken. A certain face will always be leading or fighting no matter how many regulation changes you apply, 1 team will always hold an advantage over another. All the FIA did was replace Red Bull with Mercedes IMO.

+ Red Bull had a weaker engine and far more drag which was their achilles heel. This gave the other teams some hope to beat them on the power tracks or long straights with more ease (Spa, Monza, China, Abu Dhabi and Canada etc...) Mercedes don't have that problem and their aero development is just as good as Red Bull's and they have the same kind of budget.

Getting very dry it seems :)

13:36 Interesting battle this. Juncadella and Magnussen are on opposite sides of the track, but they keep trading blows.

The latter, on the special Jerez compound rather than super softs, wrests back the advantage with the day's first sub-1m33s lap.

Juncadella has pace in reserve though, and stops the clock at 1m31.719s next time around.
