A good call for Williams switching to Mercedes? Best decision anybody has made. Redbull called it a day?? What's going on... has Skynet gone live?
Rosberg's Mercedes has done 60 laps, which is more than all the Renault-engined cars have managed across two days combined (38 laps).
Williams have been fast in quite a few of these pre-season tests. I'm not getting exciting unless they do it Q1 of the first race, I've been burnt too many times.
Caterham F1 Team ‏@CaterhamF157s 11 laps done & unfortunately @Ericsson_Marcus has had to stop out on track with a technical issue. He & his car are back and fine... Caterham F1 Team ‏@CaterhamF11m ... so we'll take a proper look and then send him back out as soon as we can. aka engine Meanwhile McLaren are back out.
15:04 Bottas improves again and Rosberg also goes quicker. Raikkonen enters the fray. The Ferrari and Button are on the mediums, Rosberg is on the normal Pirelli hard, and Bottas is on the special Jerez winter hard. 15:00 Bottas improves to 1m25.462s to go second. please log in to view this image 14:57 And he is joined by Bottas and Rosberg. Mildly interesting explanation of the new warning lights, courtesy of the BBC: "Here in testing, the cars have various warning lights on them. All have a flashing red light on the back of the car. This is a torque-reduction warning light. Basically, in the past, before a driver lifted off, he'd check his mirrors (well, usually) but with the torque distributor deciding where it is going to get the power from (engine, Ers, etc) various fuel-saving strategies could mean a car slowing down, say on the straight, other than simply via a throttle/torque map. "Therefore, they are experimenting with warning lights to warn following cars whenever there is a torque reduction. The flashing green light on the back of Marcus Ericsson's Caterham, meanwhile, signifies a rookie driver not yet in possession of a superlicence (although it is a formality). Not to be confused with the green light on top of the roll hoop, which signifies to pit crew/marshals that a car is Ers-safe at that time and they can touch it." So torque reduction is to warn the cars behind that they may not be accelerating as quickly as you'd normally expect? Not a great explanation of that bit for me.
Mercedes will win the title, with Ferrari second and Williams or Mclaren third. Just putting it out there.
Rosberg is the only driver capable of long 'fast' stints at the moment. He's just past the 70 laps mark Yes...maybe...ermmm? At least thats how I read it, maybe they'll be leaning on the ERS a lot more out of corners with the turbo turned down / fuel flow reduced? Or irregular acceleration as the car uses various forms of power?
