Would make sense. Can't be doing his gearbox any good, let alone unnecessary mileage on the other bits. Perhaps he's waiting to take out Hamilton when he gets lapped?
I can only assume Mercedes are busy trying to think of an excuse, or they think it might start working again (as happened to Vettel earlier this year)
If they sort it and there is a safety car then he could get points. If no fix my half distance I reckon they'll pull him in.
