I suspect Rosberg would have won if Ham had let him past. Result seems to have entirely justified Hams decision.
Rosberg was never in DRS range, Lewis would have had to slow down and lose a second to Alonso to let him past. Right decision IMHO
Rosberg proving yet again he needs to improve his overtaking skills. He should have been much closer to Hamilton before moaning on the radio to the team asking them to tell him to move over. Great win for Ricciardo again and a great race too!
Watch again. He was 0.5 behind. I agree Hamilton shouldn't have let him past. But the facts were Rosberg was very close early on.
They should have pitted him 2 to 3 laps earlier once the on track switch wasn't going to happen. I seem to remember Vettel getting some grief for procrastinating in letting Riccardo past when they were on different tyres and strategy in a previous race - obviously he did let his team mate past.
Ricciardo is a fab racer and comes across as a really likable bloke. Think I'm becoming a Ricciardolot.
It's like they are an up and coming team with forward momentum. They will be pushing for world championships before long
I try not to say too much in case I start getting accused of it myself I'm completely fanboying internally though
Rosberg should have gotten closer to Hamilton ... He spent too much time sitting back. Hamilton said if Rosberg got close enough he would let him pass...Rosberg didn't get close enough. Anyway Ricciardo was brilliant today again. Alonso was also great defending on those old tyres and Hamilton, starting this race with a rebuilt car, with no real time setting it up on track, starting the race dead last and behind another car in pit lane then running off the road with cold tyres and still beating his team mate who started on pole... That must be awesome.
I'd have been bloody ecstatic with 3rd from the pit-lane and reducing the points gap. Probably anticipating the fall-out in the team debrief?
Could be he thought he should have got past Alonso a lot earlier and been far enough ahead of Ricciardo that his pit stop and new tyres wouldn't have helped?
He was in DRS on several laps but so was Hamilton. Rosbergs laps were simply not quick enough to overtake.
