I want to talk about the race, but there's nothing to talk about. Hamilton won, the Merc was the fastest car by a mile, it's the same old story. At least Williams have upped their game again, pity they're not going to win a race this season, but at least they should get a few more podiums.

Do we really need a British GP? Silverstone is such a dull track, the racing is nearly always crap, the field is far too spread out etc. The only halfway decent British GP i remember was 1998, and that was only because of the novelty of Schumacher winning the race in the pit-lane.

If Brits want to go and watch a race, go to Belgium, they could do with the extra revenue considering Bernie keeps contemplating getting rid of it.

Seriously, shut the f**k up with this now. It's getting boring. No one commented the first time because no one agrees with you and your deluded statement put up here with the sole purpose to WUM.

How did people see the Maldonado/Gutierrez incident? It looked similar to Massa/Perez in canada to me, maldonado going for the overtake up the inside of (?) and not seeing Gutierrez going for him.

Still a miles better track than the parade of yawn-o-dromes we get at the end of the season.

    Think it was a Marrusia.

Guiterrez just seemed to go in too hot, Maldo was already trying the overtake on the guy in front, there was never enough room to go 3 wide into that corner.

Seemed more like Maldo/Guit from Bahrain. Shame Guit didn't put Maldo onto this roll bar as revenge!

It's not a Wum. the British GP is awful. Just because i'm British doesn't mean i have to think it's great. The best races on the Calendar are nearly always Belgium, Canada and Japan, they all have great atmosphere's (not our prawn sandwich brigade) of people who actually care, they have interesting tracks in nice locations. Why not give Japan a 2nd race, at the Motegi circuit, because their fans help make the races special. That's the reason Fuji flopped, because Toyota prevented the fans from having fun, Honda don't do that.

Shame we can't have Brands or Donington as I love a circuit with elevation changes. Silverstone is a bit of a windy plain.

Those circuits would be ruined by modern F1 circuit requirements though. Twice in Donington's case. So let's leave them as they are.

Of course there should always be a British Grand Prix...it doesn't mean that it has to be at Silverstone though.

I'd be all for a British GP at Brands Hatch, It's got character that Silverstone (post Tilke-risation) sorely lacks. Just make sure the fans there change their attitudes.

Why did they change Silverstone in the first place?

You have to keep the British GP, it's one of the few times we have a chance of seeing a wet race, and it's certainly a lot better than some tracks I could mention (oh how I hate Monaco, unless it's pissing with rain)

Brands hatch would need a lot of work done to it to be up to the standard needed in F1, and, as much as I love Brands, I think it's too narrow, it would be a bit processional

It would ruin Brands. The bank at Paddock Hill Bend would have to go for a start, to make the run off larger.

Little overtaking opportunities though. Saw Indycars racing there many years ago, was 1 overtake in the entire race.

Straights aren't long enough and all are followed by fast corners.

Fantastic track to drive, but everyone would moan that the actual race would be boring.

    Tracks that can sod off:

    Silverstone (No character, boring races)
Monaco (i don't care about the History, it's boring as sin)
    India (Tilke garbage)
Russia (Not even finished yet, but Tilke garbage)
    China (Tilke garbage)
USA (i'd replace it with something like Road America, or in a fantasy world, Laguna seca)
Spain (Barcelona always has such dull races)

F1 cars are so safe now, why would they need to do that? They used to race around there with those monstrous 80's turbo cars and have no issues, the cars may be faster over a lap now, but they're so much safer now. If Perez's crash in Canada had happened in the 80's, it's safe to say he probably wouldn't be racing right now.

Prawn sandwich brigade!? Have you ever been to Silverstone to watch a race? Sit on the spectator banks and tell me they're all 'prawn sandwich' bridgade <doh>

Of the 3 races you have picked, only Canada produces lots of overtaking. Belgium and Japan are great to watch as a spectacle, but as a race only a few times can I think of any proper battles that have taken place on the track.

F1 safety has change a lot since then though, tracks and cars. Circuits have to have bigger run-offs now, thems the rules. Slightly duller tracks and slightly duller racing maybe, but hopefully fewer cars in the crowd.
