I think the difference is here that Rosberg is his team mate so he isn't going to cry to the FIA. The FIA only action when a complaint is sent. If it was another team car then it would be a different story.
I was making the point that whether the car remains dominant or not (and that is a question which will be resolved in the longer term) I don't see the situation being the same as Vettel at Red Bull, simply because this is not about one team and one driver in the way it was then. People were sick of Red Bull dominating, but mainly because the result was one driver (Vettel) dominating. I think if Webber had been able to take the fight to Vettel on a regular basis we would at least have had racing.
Seb reported DRS failures mid point of the race which seemed tomfully return after he pitted and then straight line problems towards the end. Ted discovered he had a MGU-K failure at the time of the safety car period in which Ricciardo overtook him. Though strangly Vettel didn't really seem to be using it as an excuse when interviewed when really his car had yet again not been working properly all week. Seems Red Bull are at a low point and don't need Seb slamming everything his engineers are doing and how bad the engine is as they're under enough pressure as it is and dissing Daniel by hinting: "You only beat me because my car wasn't working like yours was" as that would show signs of arrogance for Daniels good work, so he deflected the situation on himself eventhough it was a Red Bull / Renault fault and didn't try to knock Daniels confidence.
In the last stint you mean? Both on softs; Vettel's only a lap older than Ric's, and his DRS issue from earlier seemed only temporary (by this stage it was working again). It's all I'm aware of.
Just seen that Ricciardo genuinely out did Vettel, I know that lad has something in him --> pre-reading of Silvers post. Massa also will sleep easy, 2-1 in the Williams garage. --> Cheers RR, Vettel needs to watch his back a lot it season it seems then, although just read Silvers post so cannot really be definitive!
Well it's up to Mercedes to make the complaint, but the real problem is Rosberg, he's a one trick pony only good at going fast on a clear track. Anyone else would've tried something different rather than trying the some poor moves over and over again, it was almost as if he was letting Hamilton win tbh, didn't use the extra grip and traction he had available to try anything different, just telegraph the same move over and over.
Good point that, he dove in two feet into turn 1 a few times. At which point I thought he could have held very close behind Lewis instead and drilled it into turn 4. But I suppose the heat and frustration got to him.
It was his moves ibnto turn 4 that really annoyed me, there are two overtaking lines there and he didn't try and feint once, I just don't think he has a racers head, more of a speedster than a racer, like a scared Prost.
please log in to view this image Meanwhile Di-Resta... Honestly think Rosberg got too hot under his lid to think yesterday it happens.
yeh I thought he was very weak defending at the start, but I think Hamilton bullies him and will bully him everytime, I've yet to see Rosberg show some proper racing balls at any time during his F1 career, fast for sure, but he's not the wheel-to-wheel race winning type IMO, I think most of the drivers on the grid would've had Hamilton in the same position, but that can bring WDC rewards in itself.
To be fair his driving style makes him one of the most consistent and "bring the car home" type of racer. I can't remember the last time he was in an incident that was his fault. But he shouldn't allow Hamilton to bully him this season and he probably should get his elbows out a bit more from now if he's to win the WDC, I just hope Hamilton gets karma'd and crashes out one of the times he swerves into Rosberg again.
That's not the reason Rosberg didn't complain. The real reason is that he's not a whiny little bitch like most of this forum.
funny, because I'm pretty sure Rosberg DID complain to the team, just like the whiney bitch who races in red.
I'm wondering which of the top drivers people think wouldn't have driven as hard as Hamilton in that situation. Presumably only drivers who don't really care if they win the WDC. What really impressed me about Hamilton in this race was the extent to which is he only focussed on one thing this year. He was aggressive but in control the whole time. No excuses, no mistakes, just controlled aggression.
Really? I thought it showed the complete opposite, he looked more like the Hamilton that kept crashing into Massa to me, I think if it had been any other driver in that other Merc and it would've been 2xDNF. I think having the class of the field and seeing what Vettel did with a car not even anywhere near as dominant as that Merc, is going to be too much persoanl pressure and he'll start to fall apart.
I think it's funny how pissed off some people are just because he won. Never known so many negative comments and excuses everytime he wins, which hasn't been that often in the last couple of years either! And before everyone comes out with "oh we just hate all the hamelots who always come out when he wins", where are they!? They only people making any kind of fuss about it are those who hate him. If they just shut up, no one wuld be talking about it
I don't agree at all. It was hard but fair, and exactly what I would have expected from any of the top drivers in that situation. Whereas in the past Hamilton might have let emotion or inexperience get the better of him under pressure like that, he just looked incredibly focussed. He brought his talent and experience to bear on Rosberg, who had every advantage but failed to use it. With regard to your comment re Vettel, it situations where Vettel had a vastly superior car he didn't face any pressure. Hamilton did yesterday, and refused to crack. What was your point again?
Let's face it though, if that was Vettel or Maldonado in his position you'd all be calling for his head. It's just the fact it's Hamilton that you're not.
