The McLaren looks......awful. Ignoring the times because they could be running anything settings wise given it's really the first time they've ran the 2016 configuration fully and will need to gain a lot in mapping still with the different deployment system, larger turbo etc, but aside from the power delivery looking utterly dreadful, the actual car just looks bad, poor traction at both ends, no suppleness, squirmy
And apparently McLaren had their staff in over new year and Christmas... They'd maybe be better sending them all away to relax and asking them to come back to work refreshed.
Climatic end to FP1. Yeah I imagine it could be a great race if it stays like this. Off to catch some zzz's. See ya later bhaji.
I missed FP1 but in this wet P2 I thought the McLaren looked good under Alonso and he is in the mix with Red Bull and Ferrari with that lap at the minute. Have to say the power deployment did not look good however.
A Friend at work was staying with a family , the Father left McLaren and joined HAAS ( a mechanic ) said it is a breath of fresh air & the fact they are using a lot of Ferrari bits means they will most certainly be quick from the off . Said the staff at McLaren were just SO down through no fault of their own . It was a friend at works Son .
It could be argued that McLaren isn't the most fun and creative environment to work in. It's more like a hospital than an F1 garage. Time for McLaren to losen up a bit imo.
