Aaaah... F1's most revolutionary rule in action!

While I'm not keen on drivers changing their helmets, adding rules to prevent it is bloody ridiculous

Who actually started all this ? First person I can think of was Eddie Irvine when he moved to Jaguar , though I think he only did it once .

Schumacher changed his when he moved to the Scuderia, but to be honest, who cares? It's a Helmet.

Maybe they should limit it to 4 Helmets per season before you get a grid penalty. :p

Helmet rule is ridiculous. Cancels any attempt from a driver to have some originality and personality.

The old thinking used to be a drivers helmet was part of his personality. The design would stay with the driver throughout his career so would be a defining symbol of him.

Nothing wrong with a few tweaks to a basic design, but Vettel was taking the piss with it.

Personally, I think there should be a rule that bans any 'Hemlut's from the paddock. Sort out one problem at RBR.

Mercedes loading up the bags of sand, or is the field really as close as it looks?

It's not close. I refuse to be drawn into a false sense of security only for Lewis to be 7tenths faster than Nico tomorrow.

So which team whose name begins with M do we think will be the bigger waste of time come qualifying?

Manor should have some sponsors. All for them turning up and giving us a show but is their aim just to go bust again? Inevitable.

Looks like Kimi is the man to watch on race pace against Mercedes in the first stint, Vettel for qualifying and on the prime stint. His best sectors combined would put him at 39.5 and on top, but Lewis will likely make a big step after today's problems.

The only hope Ferrari have is the hot weather and the tyres seem to be hindering Mercedes a bit here. Rosberg didn't seem able to go that much faster with the option tyre unlike Ferrari and their prime stints were not as fantastic or consistent as Ferrari's.

Both Ferrari drivers also didn't get a brand new option qualifying lap as well so I think they will be closer to Mercedes than people think come Saturday but maybe I've been drinking too much again...

I wonder if Ferrari will try to get Seb ahead, use the top speed to slow down both Mercedes drivers while the guy behind all 3 aka Kimi is focusing to extend the option stint as long as possible...

Stay off the juice mate :D
Ferrari will be close but not close enough to trouble the Merc's
The Merc's tend to flick a switch on Saturdays and then race day and disappear down the road..
The rest need the Merc's to eat up their tyres which they don't appear to be doing anymore..
They need rain too but the Ferrari's with their skinny wings for more speed in sectors 1 and 3 will struggle in those conditions...
In short alot needs to go right for the rest and quite a bit wrong for the Mercs for them to be troubled!
Lets hope there's a ding dong midfield battle, because the first 3/4 places could be rather processional

Anyway, according to Hamilton, his fast lap wasn't very good.

I agree withy the old bit .

I remember in the 1980's you could tell a driver instantly from his helmet colours .

GV , Senna , Mansell , Laffitte and my all time fav design Piquet / Pironi tied .

    Arnoux's wasn't the most imaginative , but good !

    Miss those days .................
