I dont expect mine to go up, but its been fun doing them, especialy the top one, bottom one took me 5 minutes, top one a hell of a lot longer.

Blackcatsteve,

Wow, they both look great imho, especially the second one! We're trying to do a new banner for the LFC forum so if you're bored feel free to do one for us and post it on our banner thread <ok>

I seen that but it looked to me like it was 1 member, made 5 and said vote on these for the next banner, so i never bothered even replying. If i get time i might have a go, but back to bed for me, 2 hours sleep isnt good.

Nice one <ok>

I like the 2nd one the best. Just, a shame that as a banner for this board it doesnt look as good. Doesnt quite reach its full potential. If you get what I mean haha. However, as a wallpaper for a desktop. It'd look blinding.

Bloody hell Steve, cracking job! I'll definitely be putting them up for the vote! One word though, could you replace Santon with someone else? It's kind of a creepy face... haha

I quite like the bold graphics here - REALLY nice job. Just one thing though: with the Sage
and the Angel being in Gateshead, they're not really Newcastle icons like the actual
bridges and SJP...

So technically they're Durham not Newcastle/Northumberland.
May as well chuck in Northumberland icons like Alnwick and Bamburgh castles, Holy Island,
Seahouses etc...

Since when was Gateshead in Durham?

a tad picky i think <laugh>
great effort steve if you'd jigged the faces around a bit (tiote at the front etc.) then it'd be spot on
love the second one but it gets lost once all the not 606 ****e is on i might nick it for my sig though if that's all right

before the borough of Tyne and wear was created

in the north east you had two counties county Durham and the county of Northumberland separated by the Tyne

Yeah but that's in the past really, I don't count Sunderland as County Durham any more and it's the same with Gateshead.

Anyway, I think the Sage and the Angel are more relevant to Newcastle and that area of the North-east as a whole rather than Alnwick and Bamburgh which are much further away.

 I'm now just getting old and more set in my ways!
Still think of the counties as Northumberland and County of Durham
- what's this Tyne & Wear bit!? lol

Just making the point that other iconic images are as valid!
Just stick with SJP I reckon!!

To be honest because I'm young it's hard to think without Tyne and Wear.
I feel sorry for my Dad because he's a die hard toon fan but was born in Washington before it became part of Sunderland but still gets called a mackem now and again.

I just don't like the idea of us pit yackers mixing with them folk further east. <laugh>

Quite an interesting map, never knew Chester-le-Street use to cover that area!
