Exactly. I'm glad we won but Johnson scoring will set us back months. It's essentially cemented his place in the squad for years to come. I would rather have taken a draw for the long term benefit of not seeing him in the side. Moreno + Manquillo every day of the week for me. Also what a nervy last 5 minutes... Did Rodgers not learn anything from the Ludo disaster? Lucky for him it worked out. I'm not really looking forward to more **** selections but at the end of the day 3 points is 3 points.
Against Real Madrid Lucas and Toure contributed to a strong improvement but Rodgers did not learn. They played today and we got a clean sheet. No coincidence. Rodgers needs to keep learning.
I know it's not a time for negativity and credit is due for scoring that goal. But that aside, it was one of the worst performances I have seen from a full back. He was awful and no goal should ever mask that. Message to Rodgers - we win and keep a clean sheet without Lovren and Gerrard. Take note. Joking aside, didn't even notice Gerrard when he came on, and you can argue we lost our momentum when he did.
Goal aside, Johnson was still ****, but I'm guessing he'll receive plenty of credit for an overall performance and maintain his place in the team. Not sure Gerrard actually came on the pitch... Dismal first half performance, better second half. Maybe we'll take some confidence from it though because we're badly in need of some.
I am not sure it was Gerrard's fault that we lost the momentum. We always do that the last 5-10 min. That's why we always concede goals the last minutes.
grateful for the win.... lots and lots of errors and poorness on show. stoke could be there til christmas and not score. Coutinho needs to learn a bit of chasing and aggression. turning you back on a chance to press for me at 0-0 is annoying. Sterling is way out of form, playing really poor options at times. i agree that it was a dismal first half, second was better but in the end rodgers f'd it up form the touchline with lovern. we were lucky a couple of times. 3 points = vital to keep crisis from the door.
Agreed. Hopefully the pounding weve taken in recent weeks has humbled him and will advance his managerial/tactical abilities. As long as we can improve from our recent relegation form ill give the guy until the end of the season.
What shame is it in giving MOTM to Lambert? you want players highly rated on FIFA winning the award? he had a really good game and thoroughly deserved it. All Strikers miss chances mate, what matters is how big an impact they have. He was a focal point today and most importantly he was involved in play. Ofcourse he's quick as a ****ing snail. But on current form he should definitely be ahead Balotelli until Sturridge returns.
Gerrard came on around 75 mins when we were truly on top. Then we went through a small period where we lost that momentum - that before we scored and naturally sat back.
Well well well, you can't make this **** up at times. Much better 2nd half, just putting more in,closing down. Its surprising where it can take you sometimes. Thought we deserved to take the points, not that Stoke didn't threaten.Impressed by Bojan throughout, touch of class about most of his work.Gotta give GJ some praise for following up and getting there first amongst the flying boots but that should be expected every game.I think they must of had a blast from BR at half time,1st half was desperate. Anyway,3 points.Onward and upward
Because you're happy that a player who wins the ball in the air constitutes a good performance. It doesn't. Time to put things into context - it was a good performance for a mid table/relegation side. It was a good performance for some who used to work in a beetroot factory. It's not a good performance for a side who actually want to challenge things. It's not a good performance when you consider the quality we had last year. So yes, fair play Rickie, you did alright - but I won't be w*nking over that performance. So many times he ruined attacks and lost balls. Call it football snobbery.
Knew it would happen. Gerrard comes of the bench. Liverpool score. Must be down to Gerrard. Well, I hope all the media react like that - because Rodgers may finally see that Gerrard is better starting on the bench.
And we're the f**ing lab rat for this clueless arrogant prick to learn his trade. A club of our stature should be getting the finished product! He's not going to learn a thing. more than a quarter of the season gone on he doesn't even know his best11. What's even more remarkable is that only a 4 million singing out of our record 120mil spending spree made it to the the first11.
Good performance from him, missed one cross I think. Where was that Bojan volley heading? Crossbar maybe
So no Lovren and Gerrard in the side - and we looked more solid at the back. Who would have thought it??
Now Rodgers, who is still heavily under pressure, has to show he can build on this. He got his team selection right by including Lucas and Toure. Now he has to show its not a one off.
