When we were top there were only two points separating us from fifth, so it's not as big a disaster as it seems. The disappointment is in getting nothing from the City/ Chav games, in all other respects we're doing well enough. If we win today we're back to fourth and well within striking distance of the top, and as has been said, the second half of our season is theoretically a bit easier than the first. I think the Nukes /City game is a fascinating one. City have improved their dire away form, and if they keep it up, they're stick-on for the title. If Nukes beat them it's all back in the mix.
Today will be a tough one. Stoke have won their last 7 home games, including against Chelsea. If they beat us it will be a new prem. record for them. One advantage is Assiadi can't play and he has played well for them and given them extra pace. If we play to our best 3 points, if we are not on top of our game this could be a bit of a banana-skin game.
In isolation a point wouldn't be a bad result so long as there were no longer term momentum/confidence/form repercussions A win would be #huge
Not sure where you got that from? Last 7 2-1 win Leicester 1-1 draw Everton 2-1 win Villa 3-2 win Chelsea 0-0 draw Cardiff 2-0 win Sunderland 1-1 draw Southampton unbeaten in last 7 but certainly not won the last 7. Actually unbeaten in 8 as before that drew 0-0 with West Brom after losing to Nowrich 1-0. Chelsea & Everton were good results, the rest you'd expect them to do well against as none have a particularly good away record.
A must win game imo. Not for the points....we'd still be well withing touching distance of top four. Confidence was still high after the City and Chelsea games, but lose here the team confidence will suffer; dropping from 1st to 6th in a couple of weeks will be tough to swallow and i fear that our away form will continue to suffer accordingly. Massive game for us!
In the league. And to be fair it's only a handful of games, as they were out of the top flight for most of the time.
"We haven't won at Stoke since 1984". League only. We beat them 8 - 0 at Stoke once in the league cup 2000/2001 I think. My ref to them winning past 7 was something I heard (obviously misheard ) on the radio earlier. Must get my hearing aid checked out.
Is Allen back for this game? Really don't want to see us loose our pressing style we've played so well with recently.
