Crazy sometimes, popped on at half time and couldn't believe the **** being thrown at the players for being 1-0 up!
What's peoples opinion on Southampton then...? Done well to fill the gaps left and they are a good side still or did they lift their game because it was against us and we took three of their players?
Bit of both I think, their fans were in full voice and that would have helped too. I don't think they will finish 8th or better this year but they won't be struggling either
not sure, i reckon they will be ok, not sure yet if they can get top half or not yet, they have some good players and done well with tadic, but i don't see them in any danger of being in a relegation battle.
It's impossible to say based on one game. Teams come to Anfield thinking they can win because we haven't got the 'bastion of invincibility' back.... yet.
Yes I agree but this is the season of Liverpool minus Suarez - slate's wiped clean and it's back to teams believing we are vulnerable so they may as well give it a go. Similarly, OT lost it's fear factor last year and their result this weekend may suggest they have a long way to go to get it back.
Think Saints will be OK but won't be any higher than 8 - 10th. Neat and tidy with a good skill set and work ethic. They'll give most sides a good game but won't frighten too many. Given the Summer they've had that looks like success to me.
From our perspective, losing Suarez won't appear to make too much of a difference when it comes to expectation for home games but I do think other (at first) will be more confident with Luis gone.
You're right. Fear factor is psychological and if teams perceive you have a weakness they will play a more gung ho style showing less fear themselves and less respect for you. Teams going to OT were defeated a lot of times before they even got out there, that kind of mind-set affects the way teams play.
conversely I dearly hope LFC can create a fortress anfield mentality that sees us pick up at least 12 to 14 wins this year as that really will give us the platform to advance from. My opinion on this is that what rodgers said DAY ONE must come to pass, sides who are not the best sides will have lads who just turn in away from home, If they believe LFC will give them the run around fro 90 mins and be in their faces all day... then they don't turn up. I don't think give southampton the ball and defending deep is the way to reinforce that message.
In an hour in so far and I fail to see what all the negativity was about. Only poor player so far as been Lucas (not because of the goal)
Most of it was because after we scored we let Soton dominate the game and put us under pressure. We got the goal and didn't press on until after they had scored. Think its different watching a game when you know the outcome, changes how you view the play.
About eight minutes since we scored second and it's been pretty much end to end. We have dropped deeper though.
