A great win against a good team can't ask for more. 3 points in the bag.

    No.

The rest of us realise that 3 was flattering. A very even game with Southampton being better at times, we were just more clinical on the day.

I rate that as a good a performance as we have put in away from home. I know the spuds game was a thumping but they were toothless. Saints played really well first half and we may have been fortunate to go in ahead. But second half was a great display. We controlled it esp after second goal. Mingolet hardly had a thing to do. Impressive.

Compare that to the same fixture last year and we are miles ahead of that.

Technically 3rd as Man City will win both their games in hand.

Well done you lot - there's the difference between finishing your chances and not.

I like Rodgers a great deal. Classy man.......the anti-Pardew you might say!

Now go and win the title will you!

If you guys can beat City & Chelsea when you play them for us we'll do our best.

Now, you lot go finish above United <ok>

Well done to the lads! That was a deserved scrappy win from a motley effort.

I thought BR had positioned the midfielders far too high as he had done with Swansea and we were too stretched in the first half. In the second, we closed them down better and allowed them less space.

We're not a possession side, are we though? We seem tailored for counterattack.

Allen was instrumental again. Defence, much better.

Can't help you against Chelsea I'm afraid, but we have City at the Etihad to come......we'll do our best!

And yes, finishing above United would be oh so sweet.....

Oh, then go and sell us Shaw in the summer on the cheap... we'll give you Aspas as well. He's been training with Suarez so he's awesome :bandit:

I thought Johnson was a bit lazy at times and gave the ball away cheaply. But he was still good, better than his usual self. A good win and we did what had to be done. Exciting match too, made for great watching.

Don't give a **** either. I'd like us to be coherent, that's all. We've been at our best when compact and counterattacking.

    My ratings:

Mingolet:8 Best game for us so far. **** off Reina, you wanted out.

Flanagan: 6 Dodgy first half, better in the second.

    Skrtel: 8 Immense

Agger; 7 Better than last week

Johnson: 6 How many blind alleys did he run up before hoofing the ball back to Mings?

Coutinho: 5 Just not at the races. He'll have better days.

Henderson: 7 Not a wide player but put in a shift.

Allen: 7 Not a wide player either, but put in a shift carrying Johnson. Best game yet and hope it's remembered at the end of the season.

Gerrard: 8 Held us together in that first half when we were being overrun.

Suarez: 9 Didn't take all his chances, didn't always put in the right final ball or he would have gotten 11

Studge: 8 Pulled then Soton defence all over the show and just didn't get the right final ball.

Sterling: 8 Would have preferred him in from the start, but what an impact sub. Wouldn't swap him for Townsend and Ox together, great players though they both are.

I'd actually swap Shaw for a Lukaku or someone like that. We have another LB that's meant to be as good in the production line. What we desperately lack is a real goalscorer.
