So youre saying you are hard done by? Reality is you should have had 24 penalties at least by now if tge refs werent 50% corrupt. Good. I was #worried things were actually changing but I need not worry no more. #curruptFAvliverpool
No, I said that when a ref does give us a decent number of the decisions we deserve we win. Which happens a lot We've been denied roughly 5 penalties and about the same number of red cards for opponents.
Maybe so but im certain theres examples where you have got away with got lucky yourselves. And like I said, its good that somethings never change.
This season things have gone for us quite a bit. But there have been plenty of occasions in the past where I've felt we've been hard done by at crucial times, and all we get told is to stop moaning because they even out. So, if we get a few dodgy decisions now I'll happily take them with no qualms.
We get more penalties given than just about any other team... however, I think we get more NOT given than most too. We're getting a lot of penalties- but not due to diving or unfair play (or at least- not more than any other team). Last season, yes, Suarez wouldn't stay on his feet- and it was annoying me too. We get a lot of penalties now; I think it's due to our style of play. Suarez alone will win penalties because he tend to get the opposition off balance with changing directions- they flail their arms about trying to stabilize themselves and frequently their ball is away from their body in danger of hitting the ball, intentionally or not- hands away from the body the ref is going to call hand ball. We also make good avantage of passing into space behind the back four and running at the ball... That's when over half of all penalties are given- when two players are charging for a ball in space in front of the goal; because we are frequently in that kind of position- we get more penalties. I think some refs overlook giving us penalties when we deserve them because we do get so many. I'd say referee balance altogether has been neither in our favour nor against us this season. There have been games we've had the luck of the ref- and times we've been punished by bad refereeing. More satisfied this season than previous years.
We have had more penalties than anyone else, we have also had more shots than anyone else, more goals than anyone else and keep attacking teams more than anyone else. When you have one of the best players in the world in Suarez, people can't keep up with his feet and free kicks and penalties are given away. When you have two very pacey forwards in Sturridge and Sterling, people can't keep up with them and fouls are made. Its what happens when you play the best football in the league.
I don't actually think a draw is as disastrous as people are making out. Yes, obviously much rather win, but if we had to draw 1 game this season this would certainly be the one as it means City will drop points as well. Sure it'll mean the title is out of our hands, but City have some tricky games, as well as having the pressure of playing catch up and squeezing in added fixtures in mid week. I'd fancy City to drop at least another couple of points in their remaining fixtures. It does mean Chelsea are back in the hunt but if we beat them then that's them dealt with. Gerrez asked the question of would you take 4 wins and a draw and if the draw was against City I'd take it.
May I add to both very good points that in an ear of "10s" and "false 9s" lfc fans can very much attest to watching thier team simply not play in the penalty area at all In short we've two forwards dying to get behind defences and we've pace, when other sides play 451 or a 433 with a false 9 or a player like adebayor who's no pace... Well it's easier to defend Simple as.... Utd; where does RvP like to play? Wider, you find him in channels, where does Rooney play? Deep? What don't utd score? Nobody getting past them into the box... Lfc are all about two big threats up front causing mayhem Why did the guy handle it? F knows.... Why did the keeper have to dive in? Simple player driving into box not running laterally as we see all too much these days It's all about the runs we make, our positivity and frankly defenders panicking
That's the only game where I wouldn't take it Max points if we drew with Man City would be 87 to their 89. Max points if we drew to one of the others would be 87 with them getting 88. Being two points behind Man City gives them the drew as they are five goals better off than us. A drew wouldn't be enough if we beat them.
What a farce, Tobes and UIR collaberating! As if that isn't funny enough by itself then you have to look at the topic that they pick - penalties! Well it's not even something that has impinged upon their limited brain cells it's something that they've picked-up from the media. Now neither of these 2 dolts have metioned an excessive number of penalties all season. But somehow, quite magically these 2 second raters start sounding-off! Truly pathetic but not unexpected.
If I had a choice? I agree beat city = 3 point swing. Draw with Chelsea say and then the most city can take is 2 more then The real point is will Everton draw with city.... I dunno but we need to win this one to take it on to the final few
A draw would allow Chelsea to equal our points tally but we have a better goal difference. They would need to beat us or hope we drop points elsewhere. However, Man City would still be in control so they would have to hope they mess up in either scenario. If we win, Chelsea still go above us if they beat us but Man City are only one point ahead if they win their remaining games so eliminates the draw for Man City. In terms of the league for a neutral, a Liverpool win would make it extremely close (if its not already). From our perspective, we need to win. A draw leaves us hoping for a favour from someone assuming we win all remaining games. If we lose then its more or less over as Man City won't slip up twice.
I'm not getting excited about league prospects until after this game. Winning this would be huge IMO. We beat City and we suddenly hold control - proper control (not just 'we have to win all our games') - of the title race. It would also leave City 7 points behind (albeit with a game in hand) and reduce the pressure for the Chelsea game - which mentally would play in our favour. However... I think City will go and win at Anfield. EDIT: On penalties... it's style of play + attacking quality. If you have a good side with a direct approach, full of pacey, tricky players who want to play in the opposition's box, you will win more penalties. Easy.
So you want more penalties, than the 5 more than any other club that you've had this season, and not getting them shows the refs are against you? #kopitelogic Even Dave thinks that's funny..... please log in to view this image
Good news Webb is not the referee for this game. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...-title-decider-Liverpool-Manchester-City.html Top ref Webb snubbed for potential title decider between Liverpool and Man City as Clattenburg is preferred England’s World Cup referee Howard Webb has been dealt another blow by being overlooked for Sunday’s crucial title clash between Liverpool and Manchester City. Webb, who has been given a string of low-profile matches since a calamitous performance in the Arsenal-Liverpool FA Cup tie two months ago, will handle Crystal Palace v Aston Villa instead of the weekend’s marquee game
