Brilliant performance overall. Honestly didn't think we would get more than a draw after 70 mins but we found a way! Still a lot of work to do and the next 3 games will all test us in completely different ways but hopefully the lads will pull it off. I just hope we dont miss hendo too much.
What a brilliant game that was. Stunning. And we won too. Always better when we win On to the next one...
Coutinho's beaut was something else. Really impressed with his general work today. So, yes, in the second half our wheels came off, we couldn't press high, invited pressure, wobbly defence exposed. Luckily we had a 2 goal lead going into it. The 2nd half decline was probably mostly due to stamina and it was noticeable from the first minute after the break. I wished for Rodgers to sub Studge for Allen right after their first goal, if not at halftime. The 433 requires tremendous drive, and we couldn't just summon it in the 2nd half.but we survived after an absolutely fantastic first half showing.
Chelsea will b a strange one. If we go 2-0 up against them, you wouldn't fancy them to get it back to 2-2 in the same way City did. But as Gerrez says, Chelsea are better defensively and Mourinho knows how to park the bus in these games so will probably be a lot harder to win. The only thing is that Chelsea will go into the game knowing they have to beat us to have any chance of wining the title. Lose, and it's still in our hands, draw and it' in City's hands. That may mean they try and open up a little bit more and creates some more space for us to work in. Bout time Sturridge scored against one of his old clubs as well! How have we got the only forward that doesn't come back to haunt their old clubs
Being a complete neutral I just want the team that has played the best attacking football, that has been the most exciting to watch, with the best tactics and the most desire, to win the title! And that doesn't mean Chelsea!
i am extremely upbeat but i have a reason to be slightly pissed Had a restless night, had a dream that i woke with a start and that i had slept in and missed the game ,but to my relief only missed first 20 mins and we were 1-0 up Sterling having scored. When actually woke this morning , thought have to get the £20 in my account left over from the national on that Then decided to wait till teams announced, make sure he is playing, then completely forgot with the excitement of the build up Does anyone know what odds he was??
Probably about 9's to score first. That's a guess, but it can't be far out. Unlucky - but you may have #jinxed him, so all is good
I was starting to believe through self force but today's game as completely got me. Four games to go...
Speaking of walking one of my hero's John Wark lead the tribute to the 96 before our game on Saturday! I met him afterwards for a few sherbets and he told some stories of his days playing for Liverpool. He used to room with Kenny!
Unbelievable game. Can't add much more to what has already been said. Can't blame Hendo for that tackle, it was a red but he was in the moment and just wanted that ball back... shows what a top attitude he has, he's not that sort of player, just happened at a high pressure, unfortunate time. We'll miss him now but others have to step up and be part of this. I'm sure Gerrard will take care of that judging by his team briefing in the huddle after. Suarez didn't deliver for me today, constantly miles off side and going down really easily. Just glad he kept his cool and didn't implode. He will be back. Thought our defence was pretty solid mostly apart from that period where Citeh were very impressive and rinsed us a bit, we pulled it together and it wouldn't be Liverpool c. 2014 if we didn't have an own goal. It had been a while since that happened. Think Migs deserves special praise, his punches were strong and he took the ball out of the air really well for me, confidence inspiring and showed command of the box. Still work to do. Watched the game out in the end, there's a Citeh fan where I go who is always mouthing off, nice guy generally but a bit off attitude since the sky blues got their oil billions, when I walked in with my home shirt on he was like 'What's that piece of crap?' I just said 'Bad news for your lot', then he was making snidey comments till we went two up, when he suddenly went quiet. Inevitably piped up again when they levelled and at the final whistle, after Coutinho's beauty, sloped off never to be heard from again. You can be sure that I did sent a few fist pumps his way when out slinky little Brazilian creamed in in the bottom corner after Kompany's disaster move.
