Any chance Zabeletta, Toure, Fernandinho, Silva and Ageuro have been struck down with food poisoning?
Manuel Pellegrini says whole Manchester City team must stop Suarez and Sturridge . Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini says the whole team will be responsible for stopping Liverpool's SAS in Sunday's Premier League showdown. The two teams have scored an incredible 174 goals between them in the league this season - Liverpool 90 and City 84. Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge - the Reds' SAS pairing up front - have led Liverpool's charge to the top of the table, and Brendan Rodgers' men go into the Anfield clash on a run of nine straight victories. Asked if he was worried about the Reds strikers, Pellegrini said that Liverpool will be just as concerned about his potential pairing of Sergio Aguero and Edin Dzeko. "It's exactly the concern Liverpool will have against our team, if they want to be an attacking team - and they are an attacking team," he said. "But I think we've done very well (defensively), Southampton didn't have many chances to score. There is a team with 11 players and the 11 players must know how to defend and the 11 players must know how to attack "Of course if you defend with 10 players near your box, you are not going to have space for the other team. But the most important thing about these two teams is they play attractive, offensive football. Both teams are very close for this. "Both teams have scored a lot of goals during the season but if we are with Liverpool and Chelsea at the top of the table, it is because we also know how to defend." In attack, City could be boosted by the return of top scorer Aguero after five games out with a hamstring injury. Aguero has scored 26 goals this term but none since January and Pellegrini accepts he may not be as sharp as he usually is. The Chilean said: "I think for the team, for the player, it is always better not to be injured. We manage so all the players can get to the end of the season in a good shape, but I think for every player it is not good to stop playing for about two months. "We must be careful in the way he comes back to the team but I repeat he is a very important player for the team." I'm guessing you've not seen much of us this season? We never start slow. The big results against Everton, Spurs, Arsenal, were based on a blistering start. Also, as IBWT & Dave have pointed out, we don't play 442 however I think you realised that but was being lazy in your comment.
And whilst the whole of the City side are attempting to stop Suarez and Sturridge, Sterling will go through them like a knife through butter as he did at their place. Let's just hope we don't have another blind linesman!!
Just hope the officials aren't swayed by the occasion and play it down the middle after all it's a football match no room for sentiment. Sweating on Kompany but should be ok as will be a long afternoon without him - interesting to see if Agger is fit who I think is one of the best defenders in the PL, if not think Skrtel and Sakho will struggle if we play Aguero and Dzeko/Negredo up top. Could easily be a 4-4 score line today!
It will be interesting who he plays at the top of the diamond (assuming we play the diamond, in my opinion we have to for this game). Sterling or Ford? Tough choice, but I'd start with Sterling personally, due to his tenacity and strength. Sounds odd saying that about a tiny little kid!! But he's such a strong lad for the size of him.
Agree on the officials, just want a fair game for all concerned. Do you think City are more worried re. Kompany than they are letting on?
Too be honest it's probably a smoke screen we did something similar prior to the Barca match, camera are allowed in for 20 mins in training and it just happened to occur then!! We will see as if he is not 100% then he won't play as we rather lose him for 1 game rather than 3 or 4...and the thought of Lescott or Garcia in the back 4 fills me with dread!
Morning men. Here we are then, one of the most hotly anticipated games in years. I 4-1 am a mixture of bricking it, can't wait, nervous. Better put my brown pants on.
Getting excited now. Hope we have a good performance. I think we have more than a chance to snatch a victory especially if kompany does not play.
Butterflies in my stomach since the moment I woke up! Feeling good about this though - we can beat anyone when we're on it and we just have to turn up with that belief.
i need a fat bifta and a few bevies, haven't felt like this in such a long time, ****ing love it. COYR we can ****ing do this. make us dream
