Now that lukaku has proved himself at the highest level... i amen whats higher than playing at woodison.. I'd put him at 60mil easy. that suarez fella aint half the player is he, not the way the place erupted after his header thus conveniently brushing the dogs dinner he made of the 4 on 2 everton got. I think tobes if you are daring to suggest you have 25mil to spend on one player all of a sudden you should fess up to your sauce... i think its HP myself. And no you've no chance at top 4 so brush that out of your mind right now. you just flogged 3 to lfc off set piece when we dropped out england no 9 for the welsh alonso or messi or summit.
I know we disagree on a lot of things, but this is an honest question and I don't want to get into a running battle over it. Do you honestly believe Uncle Bill could and would stump up the necessary dosh for Lukaku?
I remember on the thread seeing something about palying the experienced players and not Sakho or even Toure but it was damn near the same backline as last year ( bar Flanagan, insert Wisdom) and it was a lot of the same type of result, shipping goals and I think they were set pieces ( looked it up 1 set piece that wasn't dealt with, JOnes dropped ball and it was played to top of the box, and then ball watching by Agger/Enrique). These games always seem to be back and forth, even in Rafa's days they were interesting at Goodison.
That's not gloating, as you've taken that sentence out of context in a post, which was laughing at Dave's tactical nous I've said a draw was a fair result, no complaints from me & the game was a classic derby.
It would depend on how much he was & where we are at the time he became available. Don't forget there's an incremental £25m for every PL next summer off the back of the new TV deal. If Baines refuses to sign a new deal, I can see him going to United for £15/16m in January & we didn't spend all of the money we made in the last window either. So as I said, unlikely, but maybe not impossible.
But that was £60m on relatively unknown quantities bar Schurrie. A couple of them were doing well in lesser leagues mind.
I would say they were very promising talents with a very good reputation around Europe. Similar to Coutinho was for us.
I was going to respond with something similar to this... ...which you've since answered... ...but wouldn't other PL teams have more money too? Lukaku is good enough to get his pick of teams, with all due respect, Everton isn't a likely destination. that's like saying Benteke will stay at Villa or, as you sort of said earlier, Suarez staying at Liverpool should real, Barca or Bayern come knocking. But yes, you are right, it isn't impossible but then, I never said it was either
Most teams would love to be able to spend £60m at all, never mind on promising youngsters where most would be loaned back out again
I see where you're coming from but I think you're getting the wrong end of the stick lol. I'm just merely highlighting that Chelsea have some really good youngsters which were relatively cheap in this market - disregarding spunking £60m in one go and not even playing them. Compare with Henderson for £16m, Zaha for £15m etc etc.
Christian Atsu is another. Bought from Porto for like 3.5 and immediately loaned out but has a big potential ahead of him if he can attain it.
Not sure how serious our interest was in him but it appeared that we didn't want to pay too much for him. Then Chelsea swoop in with 3.5m lol. They have a ridiculous transfer policy. Going back to Matic - Chelsea bought David Luiz for £20m PLUS Matic. Incredible.
dont personally hold that one against Chelsea, every other club would love to do similar i should imagine. i think it shows more the attitude of the players now days where they are quite happy to go somewhere they may not even get a chance just because they are probably offered silly money to entice them there.
