No i meant for that match swarbs - derbies tend to be a bit more heated and the refs can go either way ie softer or harsher, he sort of gave himself a headache by setting his own tolerance level to the following challenges. Tbf to both sides neither took this decision and used it as a bench mark ( like, ironically it did in the match you highlighted) so credit to both sides for a great derby
was a ****ing good game, don't think either team deserved to lose so draw a fair result. should have been red but **** happens, thats another one against Suarez that's gone unpunished Tobes, also how was the diving
This game will get shot straight up the charts of top 10 derbies but the joe allen miss for me, you just knew, you just ****ing knew it was going to come back to bite us!! And as Gerrez said, of ALL the players in the squad, the one you would have thought would pass the ball to Suarez for a tap in, "Mr. 98%" Joe Allen and he completely misses an open goal ( open goal as Howard cheated to the side and left the near post GAPING). Ok, beers are in effect but still.
seen some of the best strikers in the world miss open goals, wont hold that against Allen, only issue i have is why did he cost £15 mill and in what way is it justified, what does he bring to the team really? also while the Allen miss was the easiest, have to remember Moses who should have at least got his header on target (would have been a goal) and Suarez should have headed downwards not straight at keeper.
15 mil, Swansea are still laughing about that one I think. Overall even game, the misses you talk about but then you have at least two times Lukaku was damn near 1 on 1 with Mignolet, Deulfleu had one or two as well. Game could have been 5-5 easily.
Firstly, what a game that was! It had everything & was the best derby I can remember since the 4-4 cup game I thought we started the game far better than you & I couldn't believe we were down at the break. Both goals were poor from our perspective & aside from those set pieces I thought you offered little. Mirallas was very lucky to stay on the pitch, but it was maybe karma given that Suarez nailed him in the same fixture last season & put him out of the game. After Baines went off (Henderson did him there IMO) & Barry went to LB the game opened up, Coutinho started to get into the game more & we started to get opportunities to run at your back line. Lukaku had a poor game overall, but turned the game on its head with a couple of trademark finishes. I thought we'd hang on for a win & was gutted when Stevie DJ put a peach of a ball on Sturridges head. Even after that both sides could have won it, but overall I think a draw was probably a fair result.
Give over biased lad! Mirallas was bloody lucky to stay on and it had now't to do with previous games it had everything to do with piss poor refereeing. As for Hendo doing Baines then MOTD showed both him and Barry doing some foot stamping during the match. After all that, Yes it was a great game to watch and full of Ifs and Buts.
Tobes every time we mention the last minute disallowed goal in last years Goodison derby you immediately dive in with your "he shouldn't have been on the pitch because he raked the Everton player" be, well going by that logic if Miereles had gone for his GBH on Suarez he wouldn't have made assists for your goals, so you were lucky to get the draw.
And either Jagielka or Distan should have been off (can't remember which) should have been off for dragging Sterling down on the goal line in the build up to Suarez's first goal as well.
Get a grip! He landed on his foot - if he planned that he should be on Strictly Come Dancing, never mind playing football. Apart from that, I agree with you.
What a game. I think the two teams were very evenly matched and it could have gone either way so a draw was a fair result for me. It was great to see both teams just go at each other for 90 mins when sometimes derbys can be a bit tight and cautious.
Apparently Johnson has the best aerial success of that back 4. But I agee that Sakho/Toure should have been starting.
Neither of them had any experience of a Derby match and could well have been a major risk. But then that thought would probably not have occurred to you
