the invincibles was 10 years ago. he was what he was and so was sol campbell. YOu are of course right about reina being the ferrero roche of keepers. you are right that minger can kick a bit off both feet but his wrong foot is a swinger. its not bad but its not great at all. skertl would have to be put up the list. his heading and competing in the air has been way better this year than previously.
Yep, agree with all that I've slated Skrtel for two years but this season as seen me standing up for him
he's still not top 4 CB but then city have guys playing who are not top 4.. utd have no top 4 cbs any more and last season mertesacker was in no way a top 4 player. skertl is a good player but not a very good one. Then again if agger followed his example from set pieces he'd be no 1 pick all day.
About time you joined the Skrtel fanclub Backed this bloke for a long time now and continue to do so. His passing is nowhere near as bad as people make out, he covers the right side great and is our best CB in the air.
Interesting. I'd put agger at third at Liverpool never mind rating him in the league. Fancy listing your top ten CB's in the league?
Far from part of his fan club but it's not the first time I've supported him. I praised and backed him the season he won player of the year. I like to think I don't pick on the player, I comment in accordance to how I think they are performing. For example, I think Cissokho is a bloody awful player but I've stood up for him today as I don't think he did too much wrong against WBA. PS...although Aly joined Skrtel in hugging his opponent at set-pieces
my top ten cb in the english prem will be simple enough. remember that basically can be a lot of the top 4 gone and an lfc player might sneak in. 1. kompany.. thuggish player who is perfect from the prem. tall, powerful, desperately dirty. 2. Cahill... as above. very effective for chelsea 3. Vertongen 4. Lovern (southampton have a good un here) 5. Terry. (f'n scum but still) 6. Jagielka 7. Mertesacker. 8. Koscielny 9. skertl 10. coloccini... sorry but the guys impact on newcastle is huge. he plays they are solid and win.. he doesn't they are useless I nthe end notice not one utd player. jones and evan for me as simply not top 4 at all and vidic would be in if he could play 5 games.
That would make sense if we were winning or happy with a draw, surely we should have been looking to counte and so bring on an attacking player with pace
well all views are open... we didn't win so switching to say a 4-4-2 seeing they were trash didn't happen and adding allen did nothing either. moses was the only option bar young ibe... in the end we didn't try it and west brom could be there still and would not have scored.
Not gonna sugar coat it... For most of the day, we weren't at the races.. BUT But for an "individual" error (be it Ming rolling it out when he shouldn't have, or Toure passing sideways when it should have gone back to the goalie) West Brom didn't do much either, two saves of note, one from a corner another from a free kick, that is it. But for that individual error, we "could" have picked up 3pts playing badly. I had hoped there wasn't going to be a slight come down from the Derby, but it appears there was, shame.. Still, this point could be a very valuable point come end of the year. What's done is done, onto the next game!
t could well be and it could also be the one we look back on and goran... we'll not know until we look back at the end. we earned a point and thats all we merited. we didn't drop anything as you've got to earn each one. but its a huge chance missed as as good a 3 as beating citeh or utd.. it seemed the players didn't value them though
Its more about what we wanted and expected prior to the game. If we can't beat WBA why on earth do we even want to play in the CL? What if I was a relegation fighting club and raced off to 25 wins, needed one point against the bottom half of the table to win the title and then promptly lost all the remaining games and slipped to second? Should I not be disappointed then? As a club we have put ourselves into a position to kick on and take our chances at 4th. We play a team fighting relegation and a midtable side within a few weeks and we drop points to both. The play was awful. Yeah no one deserves abuse but I have to say that Toure was poor. The midfield was nonexistent. Replacing Coutinho with Allen was a poor choice today. And many others. It was a huge mistake and could make life very difficult for us. I don't understand why so many of us are positive and nearly happy that we gained a point. We should have had three and this will come back to haunt us unless we collectively condemn these types of performances. Otherwise they become acceptable. No one in particular on here but around the internet there seems to be an anti-negative feeling campaign convincing us its totally fine because we are one point better off than last year or whatever.
I enjoy your posts and you seem knowledgeable but really? How can you say that? That to me is an absolutely ridiculous thing to say No easy games in this league, we drew
I understand the frustration by the fact we didnt get 3 pts and the manner we played but its not an easy fixture and on the day anyone can beat anyone WE DIDNT LOSE PEOPLE! Some of the stuff ive read is absurd to be honest!
Perhaps the reaction is partly down to to an understanding that there is a time for analytical comment but that emotionally negative ranting is merely destructive. Perhaps its an indication that we are (as a fan base) taking an adult attitude. Sure we blasted at the end of the match but then settled down to a more measured view. Do you really believe that none of us are disappointed? Nobody here is denying that you should not be.
