We should beat Villa and we should beat Everton at Anfield. Getting maximum points in January is very realistic and we should be doing so. Then February doesn't look a hard task either.

Looks like Allen & Sakho are back in contention. Flanno not ready yet. Given that Sturridge made his return last week too, the starting line up may be significantly different to last week if the above mentioned are considered match fit. Big IF.

    Sakho for Toure?
Allen for Lucas (SG plays DM)?
    Sturridge for Sterling?

Nice to actually have a choice!

I see allen on the bench to come on for lucas.

I see sturridge for stelring with sterling to replace coutinho on 60mins...

I can see toure starting to counter benteke, he's the guy i see best able to do it... great leap and a brain.

Yep, Toure had a very good game against Benteke earlier on this season so could be good to have him in for that. But I would like Sakho back in - our best CB by far.

To be honest, I think both will be on the bench ...

More realistic given they've been out a while. Not sure on Toure, we always look (more) shaky with him in defence....hasn't helped that we haven't had a decent run of games with one CB partnership.

I can see Sturridge being the one to be replaced by Sterling if we're winning comfortably.....no point pushing him.

toure played f'n great at the start. the shakyness is from skertl <ok>

Toure has the leap to play with benteke but skertl will be bossed by him.

  15. He was partnering Agger at the start too, IMO they make for a very good pairing. However, I also think Sakho should be the first pick and we should be looking to build a defence around him.

yes, i don;t know why two french speakers have not been lined up together and why skertl is now a love child all of a sudden cos its not stopped the leaking goals has it....

Maybe because it's not entirely his fault? Skrtel's fine when the balls coming down his throat in the middle, where he struggles is dealing with crosses, but he's not alone in that respect.
If we stop the supply from the wings we'd cut down a lot of the conceded goals, imo. We desperately need better organised FBs.
Johnson's treading water and Cissokho's not up to it.

Also, Agger is hopeless at crosses and both Sakho and Toure (both of whom I rate highly, btw) have had seriously dodgy periods.

yeah he is.. v hull it was easy, he was even getting out in front and going for headers and such. he's not bad at sweeping up behind either.

but he's a black hole in terms of talking and organising.

I do agree we are just f'n awful at blocking crosses... i don't get why. I thought maybe it was tactic in that we felt letting someone donkey a ball in to one forward when we've tw cbs in there compared to letting a winger get down the byline and cut it back... maybe its tactical that johnson stands on the edge of the box 5 or 6 yards off a winger and lets it in all the time..

but then i thought... nah he's just ****e.

  19. I've criticised Skrtel as much (but probably more) as anyone but he deserves his place IMO because he's been our best defender. I don't even mind the shirt pulling as others do it too but he needs to look at the ball and stop hugging his opponents!

It's not just from the wings that we concede, we give the opposition tons of space in front of our back four and give away possession way too much in midfield.....at times our defence has looked totally unprotected. <ok>
