Mad as it is i wouldnt play a striker. Have sterling be the lad who fills that spot but the reality is you will have none of the ball and fewer chances. You need to use any pace you have anf set up camp on front of goal. Your best chance is to counter in as few passes as possible.
I said 6-4-0 yesterday I'd not really go sterling as striker though. If sturridge were fit he'd play but the reason is not pace so much as ability to get in front of a man and hold up that outball we play. As we will be aimlessly lumping it I would say lamber t is the only option but f me he is so slow i don't think there's a point and i feel also the spanish defenders will win tonnes of frees from him. I would have to say coutinho and sterling for the breaks you are talking on but aside from that i don't see it. I'd perosnally set up 4-5-1 being real and not acting the mick but it'd be two banks of 4, very tight and narrow giving the wings away. with real thats a big risk i know.. they can head it but if we don't give that space away there'll be gaps to play in. My team would be *****let manquillo skertl Lovern Moreno Sterling Can henderson allen Coutinho Borini reasoning? 1. there not a good option but theres a few tactics to try. 2. we can't afford guys who cannot run here, johnson and gerrard cannot play. just cannot 3. At least when we've seen moreno and manquillo they try to cut stuff out and block. Moreno is a big worry but he's got experience of real and the bernebau which we don't have and johnson is the only other option. 4. sterling can help manquillo defensively from right wing.. a lot. 5. can henderson and allen can at least run. I think they are not aggressive enough but can screen I hope. 6. borini is selected for only two reasons. I feel he can dive like an italian. which he's proved time and again. and he can run a bit. I really would.... he's a no hoper really but he would work and could even take a free. 7. the outball is to say to all player to hit coutinho with it all the time. To play madrid you really need to be stonger, fitter, faster than them. we are not in any department.
Whats the point in putting the ball in the box when we can't win **** in the air because I team is full of 5' 6" players
Would be good if Stevie is rested - I've been championing this for a while and it's time for the youngsters to step up. Hope Can plays in the DM role but I wouldn't be surprised if Lucas starts. With Johnson starting against Newcastle, I hope Manquillo is given his chance tonight as I think he is the best defender at the club on present form. We need to overload the midfield - get Can, Allen, Hendo in the middle. Won't create much but hopefully they can get some control and keep it solid. Rumours that Lambert is starting.
Yep, I'm still looking forward to it but I agree with that. Still, its a CL game you would love to be involved in
Those two CBs that win everything in the air? Don't we do that for corners a set-pieces anyway? How many have we scored? Not saying don't do it, was going purely by your 'load the box'. Whats the point in putting others in there that won't win a header.
you saw real in the first game.... c'mon.. at least skertl has a record from prior years and lovern actually nodded one in finally. what i SAID was we'll get 2 set pieces per half and they are likely to be in the midfield area not corners..... i am saying we'll take them sort pass it back to said CBs and end up lumping it away anyway. we are talking about MADRID... not f'n cheslea. when you get a couple of frees get bodies up there and pump it in. we'll get about 2 chances i think cos thats all we got in the first game and we didn't do it. you just watch... its the breaking ball you want lads in and around for.. when it drops... suarez was good at that too... kuyt was excellent at it.. you must get in and about when it drops and finihs.. tahts how they scored off that corner first game wasn't it????
So Rodgers saying he might not play Gerrard as can't play 3 games in 8 days.... Well you've made him do it 3 tim wa already this season, what's different now Not that I don't think he should be dropped...
The 30 or so we played between this season and you last champions league campaign will keep me going for a year.
I just hope that this isn't some political decision i.e. he doesn't play, we inevitably get destroyed, then it looks like we can't function without him, so his decision to keep playing him is justified ...
or to pay him 150k per week for another 2 years in desperation looks justified... #nuclearoptionthat.
i predict that due to Chelsea at thee weekend the following players will not start: Gerrard, Coutinho. There is no way I can see Coutinho doing both games.
Well it will be interesting to see how it pans out. 2 year deal is not on for a player who is declining, and will be phased out - and on £150k a week. Something similar happened with Carragher - he wanted a 2 year deal, Rafa offered him 1. With Carragher being a senior figure at the club was behind the eventual sacking of Rafa because of it.
the only ****er who should have been given 2 yr contract was Hyypia, he could have been one of our coaches by now, could have done with that. on the point about dropping Gerrard, political etc, not sure it will make much dif either way, win or lose, as we done well when he was out before and it was straight back in then, so why be any dif now if he doesn't play.
They have Ramos, Pepe, C.Ronaldo and Benzema who are all better in the air than any player we have I got your point though MITO, I'm just taking the piss
