Fact is we had zero first half and they eased up... We never threatened Newcastle really either. But focus on where we are at not what we should be cos we are not at thier level nor claimed to be

Again, we're probably playing the best club team on the planet at their gaff. They will create chances all day long. We did well - shame we couldn't snide a little goal for a 1-1!!

I am 90% sure that Gerrard will walk back into the team against Chavski, along with Balotelli and Johnson. Manquillo (or Moreno) will be dropped, Lucas dropped (unless he stupidly decides to try him and Gerrard together again) and Borini dropped - despite all three playing well tonight. Rodgers' best XI is nothing like my best XI. Funnily enough, mine is similar to tonight's team and it was arguably one of our best performances of the season (without Sturridge).

Against Chelsea, I would pretty much play the same team as tonight. Perhaps Sterling in for Markovic and Henderson in for Allen, but I certainly wouldn't change it too much.

WHAT???? If real had taken their chances like they normally do they could easily have won 8+ - 0. they had 27 shots with 9 on target. Liverpool had 4 shots with just 1 on target. The score flattered liverpool as madrid were never in trouble through out the game...And it would not have mattered what team brendan put out ...

  6. I stand up for Migs all the time but there was at least two he should have caught. I will admit it looked like real had done their homework though, with each set-piece two or three of their players gambled on the keeper spilling it.

  7. He played well but also frustrated me. He kept stopping after losing the ball despite only being a yard or two away <grr>

Honestly mate I agree with you - but for a manager of a big club it is harder to just start dropping all the big names without the other half of support to start going crazy if he does that and we still don't win matches!

Hoping tonight (and Swansea) will be a step in the right direction and he starts to realise we are better with players who have energy, can press consistently and pass the ball confidently

  9. All three of them will be back in along with Lovren too. It'll be so frustrating when this happens <grr>

  10. I remember us once playing Sunderland and having over thirty shots to their one, they got the three points. Its not always about the number of shots <ok>

Let's just hope not rather than getting down already about it. My first step in the right direction come the weekend would be Moreno and manquillo at FB

  12. He's already dropped Mario once or twice. We've proved we play better without Johnson and Brod set the tone pre-season with Gerrard so why not drop them? The only one that would be a surprise is Lovren!

Coutinho has done well as an impact sub lately.

  14. I truly do hope they don't get back in. I want to see this team:

    Migs
    Mankiller - Skrtel - Toure - Moreno
    Lucas
    Hendo - Can
    Sterling - - - - - Lallana
    Borini

(switch to a diamond by pushing Sterling up top and putting Lallana behind although I'd be inclined to swap Adam for Coutinho in this instance)

But we simply wont. I predict now that the team against Chelsea will be:

    Migs
    Johnson - Skrtel - Lovren - Moreno
    Gerrard
    Hendo - Coutinho
    Sterling - - - - - Lallana
    Balotelli

As far as I am concerned there is no possible justification to change the pair. Moreno is weaker defensively but to put Johnson it at lb would be sinful

Can did ok, more games will bring up fitness IMO, Allen did ok but not on the ball.... Lucas did well mostly, I dunno.... Toure was riding his luck. IMO Skertl was sloppiest

Let's not forget Johnson and Gerrard have not started 2 of our last 3 games

So who said we'd get battered, come on own up.

The ITV pundits, you have to laugh. Great team effort, Allen still looks like a boy amongst men, didn't do anything wrong, does just enough and no more, not through lack of effort but lack of confidence maybe.

  20. But we fielded a side that suggested it was the League Cup. No one will convince me Brod did this for tactical reasons. It was either because he wanted to teach some players a lesson after Newcastle or he felt we wouldn't get anything from tonights game anyway, possibly a combination of both. It could have backfired on him big time but fortunately it didn't, instead it should have given him a selection headache. Note the word 'should'
