Welcome to the forum! I agree with your points. People like Poulsen have to go now. Simply not good enough. Agreed about Aquilani. However, if a good bid comes in, I can see him leaving which would be a massive shame.
I can see him on his way, if these games where about advertising talent hes done himself no harm. unfortunatly the players we could do with letting go have been poor. Poulson has got to go, give him away if need be. Id forgotten degan played for us and i wish he hadnt remided me of how poor he is. I feel for joe cole, he has talent and certainly somthing to give but he would be better suited to a lower team where the pressure and spotlight arnt on him quite so much. I must admit i would dearly love him to come good because unlike some of the others he does put the effort in, its just not happened for the lad.
This was a weak team so it's not surprising they got tonked by Gala. My problem is why we even play these games if we're not putting out a team that's going to compete. I know the shop window/ youngsters arguments et al, but I'm afraid that we're undermining confidence and that we're losing more than we gain. On a personal note, I've been saying for weeks that we need another experienced CB and getting a lot of argument over it. I don't see anything here to make me change my mind. I'm not talking about first choice necessarily, but about solid back-up. PS. Welcome to the new posters
It just shows what a massive job kenny has.Rafa and Roy (sounds like a las vegas act!!) really did sign some rubbish.I know we did well when Rafa was there but the deterioration in the quality of the squad was there for all to see,maybe thats why Torres left. we seroiusly have to trim this squad of the dead wood.Not easy but surely it would be better to let them go cheap and get them off the wage bill.In fact we should wrap Paulson up and send him back to Hodgson..and make him pay the postage!!!Tell him he won him in a raffle.
Cheers i know what your saying re confidence, but the main core of the team is being kept together and away from the results, the youngsters need the experience as weve seen kenny does have the confidence to play them when needed. We still need to strenthen but the last two results shouldnt lead to knee jerk reactions. Weak def today but no carra agger or skertl are 3 first choice centre defenders.
Yeah, but I'm concerned because Agger is injury prone and on past experience he may spend a lot of time out. If then one of the others is injured or suspended I just don't have confidence in the cover. Plenty of good youngsters coming up but they are as yet unproven and I don't like to see too much responsibility heaped on them. They need to be eased in, with experience around them. This is my opinion, and I'd be delighted to be proved wrong, but what I've seen the last couple of games hasn't filled me with confidence.
If we lose carra for the season we would be in the s***. We will lose agger for ahlf a season its inevitable, skrtl for a couple of games but as long as carra is there im confident. however i agree the mans not exactly in his prime and we do need to strengthen. I would play carra and kelly as much as poss to give the lad as much chance as possible to learn. I fear bringing in another cb would stifle his chances same with wilson who i rate highly, we have the players but it may not be a set back four all season like were used too. The major concern is lb we have no one i would deem good enough for the starting eleven. Plenty of cover insua, johnson and the youngsters but no one who you feel confident to start the majority of games.
I've read through a lot of this and it would appear that we all saw things pretty much the same way. Nothing more to add really. Someone somewhere said that we'll have a much stronger team/squad out for Valerenga, partly out of respect and partly for preparation. I think this will be further underligned against Valencia.
To be honest, with the defence and to a certain point the attack we had it is no surprise that we got beaten 3-0. The real test will be when we play a strong XI using many first teamers, and when we have done that, we have won. So I don't think we need to get on KD's back yet. Judge it on the next friendly when it's rumoured a stronger side will be fielded.
