If anything, all this goes to show that he is a UEFA/FIFA chief agent ****. He was paid to ensure Barca went through against us. But before I elaborate on that, I want to respond to the two most inevitable comebacks I get when I post this. First off, I'm not trying to gloss over our poor performance. We literally couldn't keep hold of the ball for three passes the entire game. Some of our defending and dallying on the ball was shambolic. Still though, we'd kept them relatively quiet in front of goal until they scored and I think most gooners would agree that they were quite happy with the game at the 45th minute, although probably anxious to get in at half-time. Second off, some ****s invariably refer to the decisions that went for us over the course of the two legs. The first leg is a separate matter. That match was allowed to be played freely and as a result it was rightly labelled one of the best games of football in the champions league. The decisions that went our way were slightly fortunate, but were hardly blatant calls either. But when referees are sent out to do dirty work, it's usually in the second leg of a tie. See Chelsea Barcelona two years ago for reference when they ****ed Chelsea over. As far as the tie goes, the ref probably felt scant need to get involved because he thought like most people that Barca would stroll to victory. It was only when we equalised and had our tail between our legs that the ref panicked because he realised the danger of the situation. After all, after being dominated by Barca for most of the first leg, we still went on to win the game. That's something useful for any team playing against Barcelona. If you can get the ball off them for any length of time, they can be broken down in defence. By anyway yeah, the ref panicked and made the most blatant and disgusting decision in sending RVP off. The damage was done. It's nigh on impossible to get the ball and keep it with 11 men on the field. You can forget it with ten. And here's why I think UEFA saw fit to intervene. Two reasons actually. One, after Spurs beat AC Milan away, they realised that there was a danger of all four English clubs progressing and these ****s have learned from previous times that it's no good to have one nation dominating the tournament. If we qualified at Barcelona's expense, it was down to Madrid and maybe Bayern to stop the charge. Two: I think they felt they owed Barca one because they ****ed Barcelona the previous year against Inter. Why? Because the final was being held in one Santiago Bernabeu and the people who run Madrid are powerful figures in the game. Bad enough that after spending ã250m on a team in one summer and for them to still go and get knocked out by ****ing Lyon again in the last 16, but for Barcelona to get to the final in Madrid and lift the trophy was too much to swallow. Corruption in football stems from the top. Blatter is the most corrupt little dictatorial ****, you could ever wish to not run the game. Nothing quite tops what they've done to international football which barely anybody watches anymore. I don't think European football or domestic football in England/Spain at least is even remotely on the same level, hence it's far bigger popularity. But on the European stage, UEFA have proved several times now that they're willing to intervene in big games to ensure the right team goes through. It's developed into an ideological bias, whereby they consider it bad for one nation to dominate a tournament. But once you start throwing matches, it's only going to get worse. If they persist, you'll see as many people at Champion's League games as you would devout Muslims at a drinking contest. Occassionally I flick onto an Italian league game online, and the stadiums are practically ****ing empty over there. Sadly this is where the game is going. Money and corruption is ripping the soul out of the game. Who'd go to see a match if they thought the outcome had already been decided? The game is rigged.
Probably much more adequately than Slappy Drogba's flip flop tantrum... Can't believe he got away with just a three match ban for swearing at the ref and telling everyone he was bent on live TV.
