Wasn’t implying anything of the sort and wasn’t aware any of them did but the youngsters used to have it pretty rough back in the day. Some saw it as character building, others bullying
You were equating Hunter to great managers that were coaching adults mostly and i'm not even sure that they were bullies in the true sense, just good motivators.
Who’s the one making the final decision on these sackings though? Never had Ralph being ruthless enough to make multiple sackings in one day.
Would be nice to have some substance behind the tittle tattle Apart from the u23s getting relegated to the second tier of the academy leagues it’s difficult for us outsiders to measure the coaches work. we can’t say whether the players are performing better or worse than their potential, because we’re not privy to what that potential is When the academy players have got opportunities in the first team they seem to acquit themselves well. A lot of them have performed or are performing out on loan and many of them come across as well rounded young men(from the staged interviews ) The personality aspect aside, think it would be difficult to suggest Hunters time here has been terrible or amazing, because the academy has really just ticked along.
I'd imagine that will come rather soon. Judging by the number of people here who had been told things by individuals at the club/those connected to the Academy, the problems there were an open secret, and will probably be just plain open shortly.
Wouldn't judge Ralph by his public persona....I doubt he's a complete pussy cat....he's been round the block a bit. I don't think he goes in for knee jerk sackings (unlike the average fan), but I suspect he can act when he has to.
Thanks for pointing that out, though why 'count' is a more likely word than 'cat' to follow the word 'pussy' is something only a computer knows.
I am reliably informed by one of us that his sacking was thoroughly deserved and attached to the departure of les. It will all come out in the wash.
So you're saying our once world class academy now produces loan players for division 1 and championship sides and not our first team. Our U23 team is now second tier when it used to be first tier. But its difficult to measure the coaches success? Regardless of insinuation and allegation the Academy has gone the same direction as the first team since Poch/Koeman,
To be fair, Koeman was the one who refused to use Academy players on the grounds that they weren’t good enough. Maybe he could see what was happening, but the language he used was hardly going to inspire a kid to try harder.
That was bollocks - Koeman didn't even watch academy games, didn't know any of the players, and kept them seperate from the first team - I can't see how he can judge them as "not good enough" if he doesn't give them a chance or watch out for them. He didn't even know who Josh Sims was when he played against Everton the next season ffs.
I agree entirely, but I’m trying to establish some sort of link in my mind between Koeman’s appalling attitude towards the Academy and the bullying culture which @Beef has mentioned many times, which Hunter and Jaidi presided over. Les Reed must have known about it, and he was Koeman’s boss after all.
