Don’t see too many “likely appointment from abroad” options there. As usual bookies probably don’t have much of a clue at this stage
A Wednesday fan is claiming we've already approached them asking to speak to Danny. No idea if he's ITK or not.
Notice a couple are saying now that they do not expect him to be in charge of them this weekend? I think if this is where we want to go, he was probably approached last week, as that statement last night was not penned in 1hr 20mins. A few don’t think he’ll leave them, but the realist know we will have the money next season to push for automatic promotion again, and their owner will not spend this January.
Blows my mind the amount of people who say "not Rohl, we need someone with PL experience". How do people think you get PL experience, without the opportunity to manage in the PL in the first place?
And this is where my concerns about appointing a manager now for next season stems from. Someone like Rohl/Corberan will have a sizeable chunk of the fan base against his appointment, so if he doesn’t do well then they will want him gone before next season, even though the signs in their careers so far point to them being a good fit in bringing us back up. The damage could be done in the next 22 games with the fanbase and we need a clean slate again
This appointment has to be made with an eye on next season. It just has to be. Financially, logistically... we cannot be sacking another manager and having to hire yet another one in the summer with an increasingly sour set of circumstances for the new boss to inherit.
Hopefully we have enough people with more than single digit brain cells in our fanbase. Rohl has experience in the top league at Southampton, Bayern Munich and the German national team. I don't know how much more top league you'd need to get a crack...
Exactly. So if there is noise from the idiot fringe, it needs to be ignored wholesale. Honestly, as long as there's a clear improvement, I can't see it being an issue. The comms need to be on point though.
I get it. I don’t agree that PL experience is the best all, but I can understand it. It’s a symptom of the last few years and all SR appointments, Jones, Selles and Martin all lacking experience and all being horrendous at PL level.
