The Sun is shining. I have evolved the minnow trap to include a device which enables me to "cast" the trap into the water and to "reel" it back again. It is made from a bit of wood, a screw-in eye-hook thing and a device which I found in the shed which appears perfect for holding the nylon line. Off to the lake to try it out.
Nearly got caught in the act by the farmer today, nice old gent, just wanted a chat about the weather and the pigeons eating his peas. Yesterday I managed to get my line caught on a branch and it snapped so I had to return in the afternoon in shorts and wade in to get the trap back. I brought along a pair of long-handled snippers and gave the willow tree a trim. No more fish of late, the trap has become a colony for all sorts of wildlife. Here are a couple of leeches and some snail eggs:
At last, a fish and the timing couldn't be better what with the weekend of celebration almost upon us. I'm not certain as to what it is, think it might be a spined loach although they tend to live in flowing water? Anyway, the committee of the Official Hitchin Town FC Watersports Association has voted in favour of naming him Elizabeth by way of tribute to Her Majesty:
Have they released you from the mental hospital yet ? Come on , get that trap back in the water iv got a tenner on you catching an eel by Christmas
To catch an eel, and more fish in general, I need to put the trap in the dyke but there are dog walkers who go along there. I'm having a break from trapping, focusing on pylon-spotting for now. Would you be interested in a thread about things found in the dyke with a large magnet on a rope?
You could be on to a winner there my son - mind you a thread on Pylon Spotting would probably be equally as gripping !
2nd result on google for "pylonphile"... http://www.not606.com/showthread.php/148029-Official-Hitchin-Town-FC-Pylon-Thread Are you serious about pylons or are you just jumping on the pylon bandwagon?
Actually, I'm more interested in Pythons to be honest. P.S. I loved your exchange of posts on the Pylon thread with tina2010
For some of the boys on here, talking dirty with Tina is the closest they will ever get to actual sex with a lady. Not many pythons in Cambridgeshire but I did snap a serpent with my mobile, think it's a grass snake?
