Burnley fans seemed to think he was on 7k with them...so would have to take a 2k drop if the rumours about a 5k wage cap are right but probably got a few clauses for goals in the contract.

He had on year at Burnley left so......the logic in that is a little flawed.

He could earn the same money at Burnley in one year (minus a little bit due to the tax thresholds.....) as he would at Watford in two.

However My moosey friend he was frozen out by Eddie How The burnley fans were on his back! and he still wants to play on regular basis and be part of something special!!! Maybe add in some lucrative goal bonuses on a much lower basic pay might be just up his alley;)

Well he seems to know the pressure that is on his shoulders and the fact that he will have to support and coach the kids. He says he is aiming high and that he was impressed with SD from the start, so well done Mr Dyche again!!!!

Well he has signed .......but the personal finances don't add up - the deal must include a lump sum pay off of most of his year remaining or something like that to make it worthwhile.
Plus the add-ons & bonus's as others have said - otherwise it doesn't make sense.

Anyway, that's approx 12 of next seasons goals based on his conversion rate over recent years.

Not sure about this signing. If we play to Chris's strengths, Burnley fans say they are non existent, we could end up a bit one dimensional and predictable. When we were on fire last season we were anything but predictable. But if Sean feels that Chris will take a lot of pressure off the likes of Deeney, Sordell and Massey and bring into play, via the second ball, some of our less experienced midfielders then all well and good. For me it is probably as much about attitude as ability/fitness and if Chris is up for it then it might be a good signing - lets hope!!

Well, all the wages comments are just speculation - the only thing we can be (almost) certain on is he is not on any more than £5k a week here (as long as they stick to the wage structure).

Who knows what he was on at Burnley - but £7k would probably be roughly right, but as previously said, he wasn't wanted there, and if there is very little interest in him, I'm sure he would take a small pay cut to move here. I would suggest he would be on around the £4-5k mark, maybe with incentives. There always ways around making up the difference anyway - signing on fee, appearance bonuses... but like to think his main bonus is a goal one, so lets hope we have to pay him a lot this season!

I still think this is a good signing. I don't think we have to change our game to play to his strengths, but he can adapt to play to ours. He adds another dimension, and if we can play it into feet and he holds up the ball well, he can bring others into play, laying the ball off to the more speedy players!

Think he's a good buy,a lot of things i've read on the WO site say he won't replace Danny Graham....how can we? He was a one off investment who I wish all the best in the future.
What chris will do is score 10-15 goals next year. We have Marvin he should be good for much the same, tiny and JE 5-10 each, the list goes on. I haven't got how many goals we scored last season in the league, think it was 77,at one stage we were over 2 a game.
What did let us down was our defence,SD has strengthened in that area which I for one am pleased to see.
Think SD will slot forsyth in at LB if he can't get a genuine LB.
2 weeks ago I was looking forward to the next season with trepidation now I feel we could surprise quite a few teams.

I love it when you read things like that - as you say how the heck can he or indeed anyone else? The point is he's agreed to come here and is clearly up for the challenge. that will do for me. Looking forward to the season now as we've been way more active in the market than i feared we would be.

That's what I thought.... I thought it was going to be nearer the £150-200k mark!

I think there are add-ons though....

Chris reminds me a bit of Jason Lee - could end up with a similar career profile with many clubs and still playing at 40. Jason was derided for his 'Pineapple' hairstyle while Chris for his glaring miss at Hampden Park.
