To be honest, it shows there is a flaw with them calling the driver in, how times has this happend now this year? The only people who deserve the penalty are the stewards themselves for their own flaws in their system.
Yeah it's stupid, they only have seven minutes between sessions to refuel and change tyres and do whatever else they have to do, they should wait until after the session.
Joint most poles in 2007: 6 The most poles in 2008: 7 Joint most poles in 2009: 4 The only McLaren pole in 2010 The only non Red-Bull pole in 2011 The most poles in 2012: 7 quality qualifying
Toto Wolff saying it happend in between runs, seriously FIA drivers are trying their best in difficult weather and under pressure and you want them to be weighed at stupid times?
I'm happy with qualifying. It's the race that counts and at least Vettel isn't on pole. I think Ferrari are on a wet setup - Domenicali avoided the question when asked if Alonso was on a wet setup, Alonso said they were on maximum downforce but acted like everything was normal - the qualifying position, the setup, the race pace, etc. I think Alonso is downplaying everything, as he sometimes does in post-qualifying interview. I'm happy for Lewis, his pole position is more than deserved after the bad luck he's had. Being realistic Vettel will win the championship easily, and if he does then congratulations to him. I'm remaining optimistic but if Alonso doesnt win I think I'll be fine unless it happens in a painful way like 2008. If Alonso wins it will be a welcome surprise.
QUALI Seb: "We’re in good shape and have been quick all weekend, so let’s see what we can do in the race". Looks like Seb is also on a "wet set up" and seems confident of the win. Kudos Forza, this has been a very VERY! tough season to endure, it has been long, it has been grueling, it has been very stressful. Hopefully it is a safe, respectable GP for all the drivers to walk away from and whoever wins the race + WDC deserves it. It's a shame in a way 2012 will end tomorrow it has been one of the most interesting that's for sure. I've seen Alonso come from further back, we will just have to see what the weather brings and see what happens
Apparently Andrea Stella said this to Alonso over the radio: "We know the situation is good for tomorrow" - suggesting a wet set-up, or at least not a fully dry set-up
Webber was reprimanded in Austin so presumably Maldonado will get the same punishment - in which case he will get a grid penalty, as he's already had 2 reprimands this year EDIT: Dimi PAPADOPOULOS ‏@f1enigma Maldonado seems to have been penalised. Alonso gets to 7th
The way the BBC have shown the weather is that the rain might be at the start but it will end eventually, so mixed setup would be the smartest choice I would think, not wet or dry.
