Its all a question of what you believe in. I believe in signing players that dont think we are ****e on their boots? I'm not asking them to love us or even like us but I do draw the line at ones who despise us? I wont be paying my hard earned lolly in order to pay for a twat who ****ing hates us, especially when season card renewal date comes round thats for certain. Thats how badly I am taking this potential signing.
Couldnt agree more Cest, and heres me thinking MON had a understanding with our grass roots support, This clearly shows he does not.
I know mate - but the interview was light hearted and he really only said what any of us would say about Newcastle - but then if Newcastle offered us a job the same as the one we're doing on 3 times the money we'd jump at it (I certainly would). I get your point but regardless of how little I want him here, I will back him if he signs for our club
Would sign him not a problem. Its not his ability I am questioning as I have always rated the lad even when he was at Watford. His b&w affiliations were known to me way back then and I would have lived with it as he like Johnson, was actually more Boro than anything else (he was there from 12 years old too) but when he decides to put his dislike of us in writing he, imo, made the decison that means he should NEVER be considered to play for us. He could have given any answer to who would be his second team to follow but instead chose that moment to express a atred for us? Why any self respecting SAFC fan wouldn now think that just something said 'in jest' or him merely 'having a laugh' is totally beyond me. Maybe those same fans think that Lee Clark wearing a SMB t-shirt at a wembley final of the mags, when he was still a SUNDERLAND player, was acceptable too? I didnt and I dont want this b&w twat either now.
Of course you or I would have said the same AND both of us would take £40k per week from them and would accept the job but my whole point is we should not even be offering the ****er a job after saying that. I just fail to grasp the whole Sunderland fans apathy about this. Its a situation just waiting to blow up in our faces.
If you were at the game he scored agains the mags mate you could see he was no newcastle supporter at all. He went ****ing mental and celebrated with the red & whites that day. I could see, like chopra, clark before him, this twat purposely ****ing up in a derby or making an obscene gesture/stunt that wont help anyone.
This signing potentially is a massive wedge between fans and manager imo that just didnt need to be placed there. I hope I am wrong but its a massive error of judgement on Mon part for me. Massive error.
I want no player here who has slagged us off. I would have bent back now if he stays fit and does not b****r off next January, arshavin might come here. And Pep guardiola has gone to Bayern so another exellent manager gets away!.
I agree with you about Graham and Bent, but were you seriously just implying that Pep Guardiola might have been a realistic option for us to replace O'Neill?!?
I was there mate - he reacted to the barracking he got from the Mags because he played for us even though he supported them - but he definitely watched them as a boy! I have no problem with Martin O'Neill signing him and am apathetic towards Graham - light hearted stuff is exactle that and that is what the interview was (IMO) we'll just have to agree to disagree mate! I certainly won't think any worse of Martion O'Neill for signing him
Sorry Cest, but this is just wrong in my eyes. We must support every player that comes here because our manager believes in him and it is for the good of the club that we do this. About Lee Clark, like I have already said, he was fantastic for us, absolutely brilliant and always gave 110% when he put a red and white top on. My mate who was also there that day he had the SMB top on, said he never really knew about it, as it was almost forced on him you could say, when he was flanked by a mob of black and whites. You could say he was set up, since then he has apologised for that and says it is a regret of his.
Saha out, Graham in so thats good business in my opinion. Putting all the Mag crack aside we have improved our squad.
I think Ellis contacted Guardiola about being MON's Number 2 but he advised he didn't want such a high pressure job and that he wasn't interested in the money we were offering - it was far too much
Reet bunch of fickle fookers... He;s an ok player, nowt special ,but can add to the squad, as compaired to Campbell etc... So i see the main voice in rejection to this is Cest..(hi gobshite, how ya doing mate). But let's look at it another way, Cest also rejects Sess as a striker (i agree on this one) so we need more (please not the usual clammer for Wickham ffs) so this move for those against it, is based purely on his mag roots?
