If Vettel gets Pole then it would be a stupid man to bet againist him bagging the race victory as well....
Quite. As for no KERS at the start, I wouldn't be so sure of that. I wouldn't be surprised if Newey hasn't managed to make a tiny unit capable of producing a short burst which he is not particularly interested in recharging throughout the race, due to the compromises on braking (through recharging it) and cornering (as is the case with larger units which compromise the distribution of ballast.
I guess that depends on the wording of the rules, are they allowed to pre-charge the KERS before the race? I doubt its something they'd check. The track is quite dusty and judging by free practice a few people were overheating their KERS. I assume they are cooled by a heat exchange and flowing air. Dust isn't ideal for this but If Red bull can escape I doubt they'd care if KERS failed after 20 laps.
Vettel said in his interview today that he had no problems with KERS. Webber had to switch his off at one point and said it's something they'll discuss tonight (or last night, not sure how it all works with the time difference) so they should have it at the start unless it fails in the same way Mark's did last week.
I think its time for my standard unreliable weather forecast: Quali: Dry and 'cool'. Cloud and smog should keep track temp low (mid 20's) Race: Dry and warmer. On and off sun, should push the track temp into the low 30's. [Disclaimer: This forecast may be up to and including 1% accurate.]
Yes Bright, I completely agree. However, it might be feasible to fully charge a small unit on a parade lap and then dispense with it, due to the drawbacks I mentioned earlier. Of course, this is complete conjecture on my part and I have no evidence to support the idea at all.
What was with the 'last time out' video? It was all about Hamilton. Last week was a thrilling race but they spoil it by getting a fanboy to cut the race edit. The one they did of it last week was ****e as well, they missed out pretty much every overtake and only seemed to show driver errors and reliability. Last week they showed an inanimate piece of carbon falling off the Renault, this week they showed Hamilton's left rear sticking at the pitstop. Probably two of the most trivial aspects of an action packed race. Hardly going to rope in new fans like that.
Webber out in the Q1! Unbelievable! An average start to the season just got a hell of a lot worse for him...
Pole could be 1 33. I am already 1%+ out of it but Hamilton could get me points, they look quick atm but I think Red Bull is sand-bagging - or are they? Webber is already out...
