My grandma could. Christ, even Potter could. Speaking of which, I wonder if he's now supporting MK Dons
It'll have put us off Welbeck. Apparently the next big striker in the Arsenal youth set up is Chuba Akpom.
Someone mentioned Dwight Gale as an option. He scored a first half hattrick tonight but against Walsall. How much can you gauge from that?
I signed him for Yeovil in my first season and he's now worth £15m and is a full England international. But I heard it from a few Arsenal fans and he's featuring more and more in the first team.
- Assumes he is good enough from the Premiership. - Plucks a random figure out of thin air. - We should sign him based on one good performance. - Doesn't realise he is on loan from Arsenal. Kind of tell tale signs from people who can't separate the fiction of FIFA/FM and the reality of the semantics of football.
Thing is, I usually have FM on in the background of whatever I'm doing, it's actually pretty good for learning about different players. Most FM players will have known about the likes of Neymar or Luis Gustavo years ago and it's from that knowledge that you come to appreciate the wider world of football. The lines between reality and games are growing thinner; there was a really good debate about clubs using FM on 5live last week and the guy said that the database was so intrinsic, so detailed that it's now used as a valuable tool in the early stages of scouting. Many journalists also use it as a research tool (the guy in question used it when he had to cover a Thursday night Europa League game against Dnipro) to find out about opposition players and get context to give their commentary or match reports a bit of background.
