No you're wrong, the Royal Family do not bring in more money in Tourism than it costs to keep the spongers.

In fact, if you add the massive security bill, the cost of financing their lavish lifestyle and take into account the loss in revenue to the Exchequer from all the houses, land and resources that they 'own' (stole from the populous) then the money far outstrips anything brought in by tourism.

Also, the tourism figures for Royal Family do not stack up. The biggest tourist attractions in Britain are Galleries, Museums and Parks, this is what brings the revenue in, not a bunch of state spongers wearing expensive clothes.

I have to disagree piskie there is plenty of information that suggests the Royal Family generate more money for the economy than they cost to maintain. It's not just tourism either (though the royal wedding for example did generate 2 billion for the economy), it's also things like the income off the crown estate which generates hundreds of millions a year (and is used to pay for the royals... Ie they pay for themselves).

Then there is the non monetary advantages of the royal family such as the ambassadorial role they carry out in keeping our ties with our common wealth allies.

    Long live the Queen!

Lots of protests against the tories all over the country. Reminds me of footage i saw of protests against thatcher. You never see that when a labour gov comes into power (the comparable event i can think of is the protest over the illegal invasion of iraq - but that was after 6 years in power)

Yeah but that was hardly a huge proportion of the country protesting like there is now. Though the Tories think one of the 1st things they need to do is to re-legalise the pointless torturing of small animals in blood sports. Nice party,...

This is one of many nasty bastard policies these ****s will railroad through whilst the fragmented opposition regroup.

Sick ****ers, I hope those people who bought into the fear mongering about a Labour / SNP Govt now realise what a bunch of ****s they've just elected - and with a mandate to do whatever the **** they want.

I agree with Charlotte Church (never thought id say those words) at the cardiff rally today - its not about complaining, its about standing up for the weakest in society and making sure that just because you might be disabled, poor, unable to work ect you shouldnt be left behind and left to rot. I dont want to live in a society where people step over the weak just to make sure they get a little more money themselves. (I was a little creative with the quote above, its my feelings as well but gives the jidt of what she said)

The Tories have a clear strategy to get the country out of the financial hole we found ourselves in since 2008 Instead of fixing the issues within a society tearing itself apart why not work with what you have. Make the poor continue to work for pennies but hey unemployment goes down but ironically food banks will be the new waitrose due to people working zero hour contracts. The future is bright if you have money in the bank and maybe a few properties you can afford to leave empty for 5 years. The problem is the poor want to be middle class and the middle wants to be upper and that's what Conservative represent, social climbing at any cost. Welcome to the Hunger Games!
