No doubt in Paris last night the Police were an absolute disgrace handling the situation outside the ground.

But why no problem at the RM end of the ground ?
Didn't they have fake tickets ?
Were Liverpool fans trying to force their way in ?

With that build up of fans it reminded me for a few moments of 1989.

The outer security cordon to check tickets before getting to the entrances looks inadequate.

We were not there, so we will always get the "newsworthy" version of events!

I find it strange that these sort of things follow Liverpool fans; is it them, or is it their perceived reputation that results in problems?

Breakfast TV yesterday morning interviewed Liverpool fans at JL Airport. Opinion was 'if you didn't have a ticket you'd get in somehow'.
May have been a bit of bravado nevertheless, a belief in a force of numbers might have prevailed.

I think Scousers have a sense of entitlement.
The way thousands of Liverpool and Everton fans surround oppositiion coaches before an important game is something I haven't seen at Ashton Gate.
Everton fans were setting off fireworks in the early hours before the Brentford game outside the Hotel where the Brentford players and staff were staying hoping to gain advantage. Crystal Palace then had to stay the next game in a secret hotel ffs.

I repeat, the French Police are a disgrace but they won't have a single problem handling the Olympics.
Not difficult to work out why.

And this is not unusual for football. Thousands of England fans turn up at tournaments feeling similar. Its a predictable football crowd dynamic to be managed.

I have gone to a few of Wales Rugby games. And buy tickets from the touts on the day I remember my uncle and load of friends going to Italy at group stage without tickets and saw all but one of the games live.
Some people can’t get them through the club, leaves buying from touts the only option to get in (other than forcing your way in) for some fans.
Even us on the Man Utd game there were touts there.
I would expect people turned up on Thursday without tickets to see the Killers hoping to get some on the day.

Liverpool fans were not to blame - Outcome of Hillsbrough inquests.
Funny how they’re always there and playing the victim though
And their fans ALWAYS turn up without tickets
Wouldn’t even be quite so bad if they turned up at Old Trafford without a ticket, but Paris ?
I thought they were all supposed to be skint ?!

We don’t even know for sure they turned up without tickers, only that’s what the authorities are saying, it might be an idea to understand the facts before criticising a whole fan base. We all know the are idiots in any club, but most football fans are normal law abiding people.

Even if some did turn up with dodgy tickets, if the authorities can’t deal with those, whilst allowing the rest in, without resulting to tear gas and water canon on innocent people, they shouldn’t be given the event.

It also isn’t good enough to just say there were people there with dodgy tickets, who was responsible for ticketing surely it isn’t the average punter?

And their fans ALWAYS turn up without tickets - Like England fans do at touranmnts sometimes in tens of thousands, as they did v Italy?

This is simply something to be managed. It ALWAYS happens, its normal. Authority should have resources available for what can be predicted, its basic risk management.

It’s not like they don’t have a reputation because they do
Why always them ?
Redprintt is spot on. Liverpool fans in particular are entitled

Liverpool and reputation. Liverpool dont have a reputation for violence.

What have Bristol City fans got up to?

What occurs at large events like last night should be managed. Its not like football has a history to study. Frankfurt fans turned up at Barcelona in thousands without tickets..

Barcelona ‘ashamed’ as almost 30,000 Frankfurt fans get into Camp Nou | Barcelona | The Guardian

To many fans were trying to get in the ground last night with either fake tickets or no tickets at all.

Why else were they scaling fences ?
To get away from the crush? , the point is we don’t know, why did the police use tear gas on ordinary fans, why did it take so long to get the fans into the ground, why were most of the turnstiles closed? They obviously lost control of the situation, that’s not the fans fault.
