Good evening people, be kind and help me
What should our best starting eleven be,
Naturally that´s assuming all are fit
Which doesn´t happen often, I´ll admit,
But very soon Howson and Hooper too
Will be pushing for places as they do,
And we´ve yet got to see Vadis O-O
In more than a short Brentford cameo,
What of experienced O´Neil G
Is he just back-up like one Bennett E,
Miquel and Cuellar our Spanish recruits
And young McGandles with talent to boot,
The list goes on of qualified preserves,
But will any make the move from reserves,
I´ll make a start on my own choice eleven
In 4-2-3-1 which I see as heaven
Ruddy we can agree on, picks himself
Young Rudd as number two, Bunn on the shelf,
Then there´s this strange situation with Russ
I prefer him backing right, with no fuss,
Back left again there does not seem much doubt
Olsson does seem to carry the most clout,
Centrebacks, of which we now have a host
Turner at this level´s better than most,
And should start each week but who his sidekick
Should be, perhaps is not so clear to pick,
For on our books we do still have Bassong
Who can still do just as much right as wrong,
But his head does have to be screwed on tight
And perhaps in that case, Hooiveld is right,
But Bennett R has long been a ´talent´
Soon surely, he must show what people meant,
Unlucky right now, he is, to be crocked
Once fit, he might find his favoured place locked
Strong, holding midfielders, we have got four
Right now it´s Tettey and Johnson who soar,
But I can´t wait to see Mr. Ofoe
Showing what he can do when he´s let go,
O´Neil also is good in that role
And what´s more, quite an experienced soul,
But I´d choose Vadis and one Tettey A
Which is quite tough on the others I´d say
Moving right up to the head of the pack
The choice of just who should lead the attack,
Seems clear to me that it´s between just two
Lafferty and Jerome know what to do,
The latter gets my vote but not by much
As both are big and strong with a good touch,
Wide men behind them, again we´ve a few
All with good pace who can cross one on cue,
Hooper and Grabban and Redmond and Josh
Two of those would put teams under the cosh,
I´d go for Redmond (left) and Hooper (right)
But it was quite a competitive fight,
Finally, who should have license to roam
Behind the striker, a creative gnome,
Howson or the ageing Wes Hoolahan
Are the two best candidates, man for man,
And although Wes has a spot in my heart
Howson´s the one I really think should start
Such questions I´m sure Adams and Holt ask
Each time they come up against a new task,
Good luck to them, and I´m glad I´m not boss
But with our squad they´ll not be at a loss. OTBC
4-2-3-1
Ruddy - (Rudd)
Martin - (Whittaker)
Turner - (Bennett R)
Hooiveld - (Bassong)
Olsson - (Garrido)
Tettey - (O´Neil)
Vadis - (Johnson)
Hooper - (Grabban)
Howson - (Hoolahan)
Redmond - (Josh M)
Jerome - (Lafferty)
In the above it is quite plain to see
Still no team or bench place for Bennett E,
Or for the Spaniards Miquel and Cuellar
Which I think is a sign we have come far.

Like you, I'm glad I don't have to pick the team!
