I've done some ante post bets on Cheltenham the last 2 years and thought I'd pass on what I've learnt. Ron - could you please add to the index for Chelltenham AP posts? Thanks.
Betfair offers by far the best options for "speculative" punts - even if you can only match a few quid (which is all I normally do ante post) you get much, much bettter prices here than the high street bookies
If you have had a good week / weekend and made a nice profit look to reinvest a small portion in the ante post market - that way, if it doesn't come off you have only basically been playing up winnings
Think about e/w rather than win only. 2 years ago I was sat on Peddlers Cross at 16/1 for the Champion Hurdle but win only. He finished 2nd
Don't expect to bag loads of winners at fancy prices. Over the last 2 years I only bagged 1 ante post winner - Champagne Fever at 20/1. He went off 16/1 SP on the day.
Bets so far this season:
€5 e/w Go Native Champion Hurdle @25/1
