Don't like the way this is shaping. If Trollope gets it and Slade is still involved, it'll probably mean that Young will stay as well. Bloody disaster if that's how we go into the new season. http://www.oddschecker.com/football/football-specials/cardiff/next-permanent-manager
Odds slashed on Trollop says the WM; fans divided. I still reckon City need a clean break from the RS era.
It seems the fear maybe about "having to start again" with a new broom rather than sticking with those who should have a season's experience with what we already have . There's a lot to be said for continuity, but heads in the sand can be another word for it. The old adage of "if ain't broke don't fix it" would be appropriate if it wasn't broke, but most think it actually is. Many of us who watched this season's lack of tactical ability and direction from this management team would prefer a new broom to sort that first - the current playing staff are another matter.
To play devils advocate (I'm very underwhelmed for the record). Maybe Trollope has suggested he was hamstrung by Slade. The effort we witnessed most weeks suggests a happy dressing room so it's likely he has a decent relationship with the players. Maybe whilst interviewed he's persuaded the powers that be he has a vision he couldn't implement under Slade, and to go one step further, maybe he actually has.
It wouldn't be a very happy working relationship with Slade still there if Trollope had intimated that. It would be tantamount to saying the poor performances were all Slade's fault. I can see the need for Trollope to distance himself from last season performances and that's route he could take, but I'd have thought it would sit uneasy within the club with Slade and Young still hanging around. If both those had gone, I'd be more in favour of Trollope having a go - as it is I'd go for a complete new team and shunt Slade off into the back row of events just as a "thank you" for last season. Incidentally, I don't think Slade will be with the club for long anyway. As soon as the right managerial offer comes along he'll be off.
As Head of Football, I would expect Slade to be part of the interview process. That might hamper things!
He'd obviously have to be a little more tactful than saying "yeah that muppet by there forced me to play 4-4-2 every week." Just that ultimately however Trollope felt and whatever he saw during training the side would be using Slade's plan/tactics. It's a bit like Giggs at Utd, surely there's no way he'd play the dour 1-0 ****e Utd have this season. It's not his call though, it's LVG's. If LVG wants defensive no shots on goal first half football, Giggs has to coach that because that's what he is, a coach. I'm not saying we'll see a massive difference if Trollope is appointed, just that we might. I don't believe that Slade's move is intended to allow him any input into first team matters day to day. I'm sure he'll have some involvement in transfers and before anyone shots that idea down in flames..... Having someone with an English football background and experience between manager and board level is a step forward. I know Slade's slated for his signings but I'd expect Trollope to be in charge of choosing players that are actually signed. Slades job IMO would be to give an opinion to the value of the player and the sense in the transfer. Someone in that position could have reeled MM in whilst he was spending the PL fortune on average (or worse) players. Once again I'm not saying it'll work, just that there's a method in the madness and there seems a willingness to learn from past mistakes.
Am convinced RS will want to be involved in football with his tracksuit on not a suit. When the new jobs in League 1 and even the championship start coming onto the market, he's bound to be in the frame, and I reckon he'll take one.
I think the very disappointed figure he was when talking about his move suggests he knows his days of affecting the playing side of things are over here. I totally agree that he'll take a different management job if offered though.
Well i have had a sneaky tenner on Warnock, i do hope we get him, i also think he would be a great choice for both the fans and the football
Some money going on Tim Sherwood this afternoon. He'd certainly sort things out at pitch level. Can be a bit abrasive and maybe a bit too radical for Tan?????
4 shortlisted from 18 interviewed apparently. Trouble is, we don't seem to know who the four are. http://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/...cardiff-city-manager-candidates-down-11343440
^^you got a fking cheek^^ historical ninian is spot on, not everyone would want the PREM as the be all and end all, infact I couldn't think of many things more repulsive than the premier league ......u may wish 2 disagree with our opinion and that's a good thing given your past reputation of being a complete and utter k.nob
The premier was ****e with a capital s when we were up there, finishing mid table every year surely can't be as entertaining as not knowing whether you're going to be promoted or relegated next season
