IF Lambert is sacked by Villa, (and that's a distinct possibility IMO), he will do well to get a top job ever again. Basically he will have to start again with a lower league club. The grass ain't always greener, he was a God when he was here but I'd never welcome him back. Personally, if he did get sacked, or even better if we relegated his Villa side at the end of the season, I'd laugh like a bloody drain
I know of lots of Canaries fans who feel exactly the same - I'm sure we'll have a bumper crowd that day. Oh!! and how sweet would it be if the result that day confirmed our PL status for another season??
I'm expecting we'll be safe long before then; isn't it the second from last home game?. I'd like to have nothing to play for except..... the odd few £million and beating them.
Second time I've seen Wonky highjack a Lambert thread because people that are talking about him means they are obsessed. Yes someone said something to you about a QPR thread you posted but I would rather read about football than who has offended wonky. On that note, watching his interview after the game he didn't seem himself. His mumbles had a different tone to it. He just didn't seem comfortable at all, I don't think he'll get sacked to be fair but I think he probably has the challenge of his career there. I said at the time, I don't see how Villa can be a good career move for him, I still feel the same, plus I think his biggest mistake is not playing Bent. I think him and Benteke could be brilliant together. Ironic how with all the foreign manager there is in the PL, Paul Lambert still speaks the worst English.
Made me think now he knows what it feels like to have someone walk out on you. Wonder how all those Villa fans who were so desperate to prise him off our hands last season feel about him now.
I remember desperately wanting to 'walk out' ata game in the eighties against Wimbledon. We were 4-0 down after 15 minutes but I waited until 10 minutes from time when it was still 4-0 !
I believe Lambert was/is trying to make a statement with Bent, he's the only BIG NAME if you want to call him that at the club and his belief at us was that you didnt need them and he's now trying to prove that again with Villa and Bent.
I agree, but I think he could massively improve them, not like Agbonlahor is banging in goals, could be Lambert's downfall at Villa.
I dont understand the hostility towards Lambert, he is our greatest ever manager and did soo much for him. If the chance came appeared in the future I would happily have him back. Although for now I am very very happy with Hughton but for whatever reason he left, Lambo would be welcomed by me. He chose to go to Villa, not a rival of us, a club I actually quite like. He did that becaus ehe thought it was best for his career (and in all fairness they probs are a bigger club than us) OK, that hasnt worked out for him as it stands but I wish him no ill will unless its against us. I hope he turns thing around there. We wouldnt be in the prem if it wasnt for him, so I think you critics are being petty and have a short memory!
That more or less sums up my attitude to Lambert. There are certainly three teams I would rather see relegated.Come to think of it they all come from the same city.
Just out of interest where would you place Lambert in your all time list of Norwich Managers? Does he rate above Ron Saunders, John Bond, Ken Brown, Nigel Worthington and Mike Walker for example?
The one Norwich manager I hated the most was Mike Walker god he was an arrogant **** and I my nads off when we stuffed you lot and the look on his face said it all! He was the epitome of someone who thought he was better than he actually was! Look at what happened at Everton and then he came back to Norwich with his tail between his legs. Dave Stringer deserves all the accolades for fashioning that great Norwich side of the late 80s/90s not that **** Walker!
Equally easy for me because I am incredibly old! Above Worthington; below the rest + Archie MacCaulay (have I got his name spelt right - was still learning to read when he was manager, but he got us a memorable afternoon off lessons while we listened to the replay with the teachers).
It's always difficult to compare different eras. For example what Clough did at Derby and then Forest probably would not be possible today because some money bag f***er will just come along and buy success with the money we give them every time we fill the car up.In my opinion that is the real damage money has done to football.Things are no longer on merit.Lambert is definitely up there though.
For me it would be Saunders, Bond, Lambert, Stringer as the top 4 manager of Norwich that I remember.
For people my age, you're talking of managers from Worthington onwards. Not a lot to choose from there, and even then it's not that difficult.
