15K a week ...is nothing

We cannot fill our squad with PL stars, we tried to do it last time, it did not work

We have a team, containing some good players and some championship level players who want to play for us, and are not that bad
We need to build slowly and sensibly this time.....Get in a few new PL-level class players, to supplement the few we have...
But still need those honest hard working players as back-ups and squad players.
Zamora to come on in last 20 when we are chasing a goal, Henry/Hill to close the last quarter of the match out and O'Neil to do whatever O'Neil does (leave that to someone else to describe)

Zamora 1 year, 15k a week...excellent business

I would be disgusted if we did not offer him a new contract (albeit obviously on reduced terms from his previous contract). It would send out completely the wrong message to the rest of the squad when we are trying to maintain continuity and the togetherness of the squad this time following promotion.
I also think there are good things to come from a fit Zamora. The impact he made in the 2nd leg play off against Wigan was immense. His strength in holding off defenders and keeping hold of the ball and the work he put in to retrieve the ball showed just what he is capable of as well as that superb finish to put away Derby. (OBZ still going round and round in my brain over a month later!!!)

An overly sentimental decision based on the Wigan home game and Wembley goal. A mistake to fill one of the 25 places with a bloke has apart from those 2 games has been an injury prone and hardly prolific striker. He'll never make 6 games without his injury breaking down again.

I understand why this has been done but its a mistake in my opinion

I totally agree with this,

Is he really going to be a good impact player in the Premiership, when he hardly did it in the NPC.

Im eternally greatfull but think its a waste of a place in the 25.
Should have maybe been kept at the club to train and coach. Not a Prem player anymore in my eyes...

Have a look back at the posts over the last season and see how many wanted him gone. Cant believe those same posters are now happy with a new 1 year deal ?

O'Neill to look competent in very short spells, run, tackle, give the ball away and generally have no impact whatsoever in the game. Is that what you were looking for?
