The one you're celebrating like a cup win. Even your players have been 'on the beach' since we went down. It must have meant alot to you as a club.
you think we have as many troublemakers you? because I'm pretty sure none have us have punched a horse while rioting with the local police(Act involving 100+ of fans in one incident), or trying to get a game abandoned by invading the pitch(Act involving 100+ of fans in one incident) or destroying the facilities of a grassroots football team by turning up unexpectedly and unannounced in masses and smashing their goal posts to the ground.(Act involving 100+ fans in one incident) and i'm not counting you darlo pitch invasion(Don't think it was 100+) I'm struggling to think of a Sunderland incident where 100+ of our fan base has caused incidents, may have been, certainly not in recent history and certainly not 3. I do resent your suggestion that we both have 5% nobheads as your nobheads outnumber nobheads nobnificantly. Yeah you're a special breed you lot, a bottle of brown ale while you feel wronged it's chest beating time as ya go all primal, fling **** about as you smash up phone boxes on the Bigg Market. nobs on the tyne...
I think Newcastle fans deal with things worse on the whole because for some reason they mistakenly believe they're a big deal and the fact that the rest of football looks on them with a mixture of indifference and pity winds them up. We know we're an average side at best and we're ok with it. They see that and because they know it's how they should feel but they can't it gets to them because they know they're a bit of a joke.
52k= massive club in their head. In their head, that means their large support should be twinned with success. Unfortunately for them, there's way more you have to consider when deciding what makes a massive club. History(they do have), success(not for a very very long time), staying power(not sniff). You can't get that with 52k fans, they're a moderately big club like us, based on decent fanbases and history, but both =clubs fall way short in the other to departments to ever being a massive club. Like you say, we're fine with it. Our recent plight has them ahead of us, I'm fine with that too.
Can't argue with any of this. NE football is just a bit sad really, half a century ago (or more) we really did have good prospects...
On the strength of this post I've had a look over and ive come to the conclusion that they purposely make their patter stink. That must be the 'joke!'
I'm sorry, would it make us less obsessed we if put them all on one ongoing thread running 1000s of posts making it one of the most popular threads on our entire board?
There is absolutely no doubt whatsoever, the newcastle supporters have never been able to come to terms with the fact and never will do that when the overall records of the two teams are compared they come a long way back second. Of course, as with every club, results and success have fluctuated, but the only realistic way to make any comparison is on the overall success. To pick out any particular period is grasping at straws, and this is where the envy stems from and will continue to do so for the rest of their lives as I can not see the situation changing. Today they are top dogs, so be generous and try not to begrudge them small mercies
Overall records you guys are ahead and that can't be argued (well it can, but it shouldn't). Not sure I'd say "a long way" but that's semantics. More pertinently is that I'm mid-30's and missed either of our clubs winning anything by a decade. Whilst I've no doubt we are currently in a better position to win something next year than you guys (I'm talking like the League Cup here) the odds are still very much stacked against us and no sane person would be betting on it. We are currently comparatively top dogs, in a long list of also-rans and whilst the two clubs may jostle for position with each other over the course of my life I simply don't think either of us are winning anything other than a fluke cup-run one year. Pathetic really.
