I am probably too harsh on him due to the Gary Numan time line. For those not ITK, Gary Numan pushed the use of the fretless bass on the Pleasure principle LP. From then on thru to the Telekon LP, his band reverted back to normal bass, But during that time Japan rose in prominence and Mick Karn was playing superb stuff. So when Numan returned in 1981 with the I, assassin LP (on which Pino played) , it felt to me to be a poor imitation of Karn. Oh the arrogance of teen musical snobbery.
Carol Kenyon. Temptation was a big hit for Heaven 17, so in keeping with the spirit of this article I give you : FYI, a cover of a Buzzcocks track.
followed by the band they were I love their origin story, the 2 musicians from Heaven 17 dumped him and he had 2 days to get a new band or he'd get sued by a concert promoter. He went out in Sheffield, saw the 2 girls giving it large on the dancefloor and the rest is history
