Obviously not but you can't look at bad luck without acknowledging the good luck imo. Anyway, as you said, lets get back OT
status? money? its like this.... its an excuse for more money when you get some you want more... always more... start of like suarez in a small team, get some success you want ajax, then you have that you want more... you see england as that.. then all of a sudden the 130k per week seems small and you are underpaid and under appreciated.... the next thing you are in arsenal its a disaster and you have to go back to the small club in holland. its not ambition par se. its entitlement. suarez feels he's entitled to play for real. Real seem to have a different thought.... he's gone and painted himself into his corner so either he pulls a tevez and gets back in favor or he goes to arsneal and finds it no better.... cl or no.
Think it's down to competing at the highest level. Every footballer at his core is a competitor, and they want to play at the highest level. Bit of an ego thing I guess. Also helps clubs who play in the champions league can typically afford to pay more in wages!
Most certainly CL football has to be our main target for this coming season. Firstly we have to return to European football as an indicator that the progress that we have made post H&G is finally bearing fruit. Secondly it is probably easier to secure 3rd or 4th spot than it is for us to win the Premiership this season. Thirdly, participation in CL football will give a boost to our global commercial activities. Finally with more funds and CL football we may be more attractive.
The Title has got to be the ultimate aim. Don't fancy becoming another Arsenal! although a CL spot and some silverware is a good aim for this season.
Lack of CL football is hurting us now - struggling to attract top talent and the missed revenue that CL generates (although our excellent commercial teams are doing a good job of minimising the impact. I would also go onto say that the lack of EL football is another reason why some targets are turning us down as well - I remember the debate earlier about not wanting to play in the EL because it's a hindrance etc etc. Everyone outside of England sees this competition as important and it holds some value.
I remember being completely against this thought process too. A club like Liverpool should be playing European football! The argument of not being able to cope is rubbish IMO, why are we aiming for CL football if we can't cope?
Once again, I commend you for your use of colours Secondly, I hope the winners prize of achieving a place in the CL qualifiers will be enough to make the competition more popular.
Once again? When did you do it before? I would imagine getting CL football would help attract better players but I doubt the owners will allow a lot more to be spent until we make it into the CL a second time. They money is paid to the club at the end of the season, not upfront. Also, how is BR meant to gain European experience if we are not in Europe?
Oh I did Gez .. you must not have noticed. You rarely notice me We've pretty much broken even this summer - which would suggest we have another £20m of the original budget to spend (£20m is an unconfirmed but prudent figure). There are a few rumours going around (Karlton off Twitter is pretty solid and reliable with his information) that LFC have around £50m to spend.
Not that I don't agree but what if that £20m was spent in January? As I've said already, I think we are waiting on the Suarez saga because if he goes it changes the structure of the team.
Colors help him understand it better. Although, I find he reacts to pictures far better. please log in to view this image
I don't think budgets are set mid way through a season. The budget would be set after the season has ended and then re-evaluated in January. But you never know ... I agree - we've already gone from wanting a goal scoring AM to a winger to a natural striker. Can't see Luis leaving now, especially as Real are starting to stepping up their interest in Bale.
Man do I miss the CL I do like the fact that we are basically written off before the season has started - as Sisu says we really aren't as far off as some fans think. A good start, i.e. winning our 2 opening games is a MUST and we'll be off on the right foot for the first time in about 4 years.
