Perhaps by saying 'fort' instead of 'thought' he was subliminally expressing that he's very defensive of his ideas?

I dunno, I think Obertan does more than meets the eye. His blistering speed gives us an extra dimension- opposition cannot not afford to give him a yard otherwise he will take a mile they seem to stand off him giving him more time on the ball. He opened play up in the Wolves half during the first half and made some good runs.

Sure he's pretty hit and miss at the moment and hasn't really produced any end product so far, that's not to say he's useless- he does give us an edge at times. It seems to me that people pass judgement too soon on him because he was tipped for greatness at United but could never get going, he's still only 22 and Fergie must have seen something good in the lad during his time at Bordeaux. I'd keep him in there what with the whole 'winning formula' we've had, I see no need to start taking players out just yet.

For once it's great to be spoilt for choice with starting positions <ok>

I like him. He will get better with time and in the future I could see him being a good striker

Think he has done well considering he's a new signing. Not lazy for me, gets back with ease but his understanding of the art of defending is lacking. He just stood off and watched crosses come go in against Wolves. Needs to learn that intensity is required when both attacking and defending. At least its something easily corrected. Good to see Cabaye bollocking him.

To be honest many people had decided they don't like Obertan from day one so he's ****ed really. I think he has played very well in most games and I'd also point out a few went missing against wolves although I agree he had a bad game. I am getting pretty sick of people saying drop players when we are doing so well. The fact is we won't drop anyone until we lose or get an injury and it's only right.

Obertan has the potential. His pace is brilliant and his trickery actually works and has a purpose. Will he ever learn to place the ball in the net or provide assists successfully? That's another matter entirely. And his tracking back could do with some improvement?

But otherwise, I think he has the quality. He's got potential.

Yeah "fort" is acceptable text speak.

You could argue the English language is evolving with the technological age so that abbreviations and shortened "txt speak" are actually developing as an acceptable way to communicate. Of course, it's a bit of a shame if English language goes this way, but I suppose the point is if people understand you, that's what's important - especially on a forum - it's not exactly a Novel.

He's absolutely frustrating as ****. Will have a pretty good game like against Blackburn and then play gash at Wolves. Can't believe Pardew didn't take him off after an hour. You can tell he's got talent but he tries fancy flicks in the most inopportune places, he gets the ball and then looks lost, everyone's screaming for him to knock it past the defender and sprint - he's capable of getting to the byline a lot more than he does.

While I was impressed with his work rate in the first couple of games it would seem that he's decided now that he can't be arsed to work for the team like everyone else. Maybe we wouldn't have noticed this as much in previous Newcastle teams but in this one that attitude sticks out like a sore thumb. His failure to even so much as stick his leg out to block the cross that led to Wolves' goal REALLY pissed me off.

To be honest I'd have a lot more patience with him if a player like Marveaux wasn't warming the bench.
