Not true. Religion/money/power etc are not the problem, people are. People can be corrupted, that is just human nature and the world will never be a better place unless the human race ceases to exist.
most of what you know today has its roots in religion in one way or another Religion (if you look at it properly) set people free. The initail anarchists were religious people. they were the ones getting thrown to the lions etc religion upset the status quo
Yep very true. Although it would solve all problems. Religion gives those able to manipulate it the power to control others and it is of no guarantee those people have the best interests of their followers in mind. The people manipulating it dont even need to be involved in the religion but can create a level of fear using it that shouldnt be tolerated anymore. The simple fact that there is absolutely no concrete evidence in favour of religion and that science has proved much of the religious texts to be at the very least over exaggerated surely pauses the question of why do we still believe in this ****. If people want to believe in god then let them. You do not need religion to believe in god. Every good part of religion is quite simply common sense. The sort of stuff that any normal person would do. Picking a religion or being brought up to follow a religion is no different really to choosing a political party to support. Both can create similar problems and at the end of the day why burden ourselves with both when one is plenty. The fact many religions and political parties conflict on alot just adds to it all.
No it didnt. Man created religion so man set the status quo. Its quite simple, the reason man created religion is to best explain the mystery that is us. We are extremely unique and we alone have the ability to fabricate an entire belief system which throughout history has changed so much, for better or worse. The fact is regardless of religion, in one way or another man would of progressed through time becoming more and more advanced. If anything the creation of religion served to slow the pace and create new and pointless obstacles. Everything you see that isnt made by nature was created by man.
bollox mate not all religions are scientifically proven wrong science actually creates more problems if you look at it most people base their views on 1 religion assuming all the rest are the 'same'
nah it was the pursuit of religion that lead to discoveries the 'church' did try and stop this and they were wrong, as religion in itself doesnt deter from experimentation. In fact it encourages it look at all the religious men, they were the 'scientists' of the day. the ones ridiculed, the ones who bought something new into the mix, the ones who challenged authourity and the status quo
Ishmael and his mother were bonded slaves. When they were freed, they gave up any claims to inheritance, under the law. If they hadn't have given up that inheritance, then what would have been the point in god's promise to make Ishmael a nation too? Maybe he's a qualified engineer? I don't know, as I can't find much information about him, but he works as an air-traffic controller for Airservices Australia, as far as I can tell. It wasn't damaging at all. It was published in the Journal of Historical Review, which is produced by the Institute for Historical Review, the neo-Nazi backed organisation that I mentioned earlier. So you'd rather believe a bloke who's in a neo-Nazi organisation over the actual Nazi who ran the place? That doesn't make much sense, does it? Have you read these books or are you getting this information from elsewhere? If so, would you care to provide a link? What would you define as an Islamic nation, then? Saying that you don't know is a perfectly fine answer. Making something up is not. Pretty much my answer to the question of whether god exists, actually! You don't see how leaving this discussion to walk straight into another one on a couple of the same subjects is either funny or ironic? Ok, then... Lost it's kudos? In what way? A lot of British people would be fine with recognising the split-state system that Britain suggested in the first place. Not sure why that seems to be a surprise. Wrongful conviction is one of the best reasons not to have the death penalty, alongside the fact that it doesn't appear to be an effective deterrent, the cost and the issue of whether it's justice or revenge. How did you work that out?
Science has proved much of the religious texts to be complete rubbish. The mind is an amazingly powerful thing. It can create weird and wonderful stories that can create wonder and illusion to millions of others. Someone with the gift of gab in a time when the human race was relatively stupid could convince them that these stories were real. Give the human mind some help, like a magician or another older tale and it will come up with some amazing story. It happen today. Film writers, authors, song writers... they all do the same. Religion was something taken a little to seriously.
In times gone by it was almost impossible to not believe in god as it could be very dangerous for a person. It was better to claim to follow it but that didnt mean you believed. there is a difference between a follower and a believer in this case. Here is a fantastic quote from Lucius Annaeus Seneca a Roman writer: "Religion is regarded by the common people as true, by the wise as false, and by rulers as useful."
sorry but science hasnt proved ALL religios texts to be rubbish the only scientific thing science has successfully argued is the bible and genesis. but most historians will tell you the bible was distorted centuries ago so no biggie
Religion didn't create nuclear bombs, biological or chemical weapons. Religion didn't create guns or more and more powerful ammunition to go with those guns. Science is responsible for the most destructive creations we can imagine
Not this again! Look, just accept that religion is flawed, and that religious wacko's force scientists into creating sometimes unsuitable objects (such as the labradoodle).
I didnt say all. Some of it is unprovable either way conveniently enough for those who claim its true. Its like that in all religions. A belief system that allows no possible method of disproving the whole thing while also having zero concrete evidence to prove any of it true at all. Its too perfect to be real and perfection is impossible. If it was nothing would ever strive to be better.
"For those who have faith no proof is necessary, for those who don't have faith no proof is possible"
Exactly. It is not a problem with religion or science or kitchen utensils, but with the people who wield them
