WRONG. So very very wrong. Religion created the need for war. Not the only need but one of the biggest reason we have gone to war over the centuries. Science didnt create that need for war, it just allowed mankind to express its destructive capabilities on a much grander scale.

Religion didn't create the need for war, but it created a wonderful justification for it when there isn't a real one.
I would say it did. It created differences we didnt actually have which in turn created fear which turned to hate and then to conflict. Not in all cases of course but thats the basic reason for religious war.
Why can no one see that religion and science can be EITHER divisive or unifying. Millions of people practice their faith in peace and never resort to violence or other evil acts, yet all people focus on is the minority who use it negatively.
in about 90% of cases in the past, religion was the basis of war, with some fighting, what they would try and justify "a holy war". I remember reading that in WW2, apparently a US slogan was "We'll win, because god's on our side" This was fatuous and i consider it ridiculous, but it justifies my point. These days though, greed is the basis of war.
fear by the media, to a religion that are not accustomed to people can be scared by that, like post-9/11 there was a show about peoples reactions to Muslim's practicing their faith in public places and with that i'm ****ing off to bed
The war started because of religion. Well, last time i checked, Judaism was classified a religion anyway.

The war started because people used religion as an excuse to justify their actions. If religion did not involve people there would be no problem and this debate would not exist. Blaming religion is just convenient but in reality Man is to blame for the problems in the world past and present.
It sure does. I bet you can guess the difference though..... with science we ask questions and then search for the answers. With religion the answer is final before you even ask the question.

Not true at all 99.9% of war hav nothing to do with religion, but religion gets the bad name were the crusades about religion? or money/wealth/power did muslim fight christian? or did arab muslim/christian/jew defend their homes? are all palestinians muslim? or was yasser arafats wife a jew? was tariq aziz a muslim or in fact a christian? (saddams right hand man that is) I would ask for any war to be looked into and religion was not the cause are afghani/pakistani/indian/british muslims not fighting the taliban?
