I understand full well the emotions involved in this case which is why I have felt the need to caution against the sort of rash judgements that can be made in anger. As stated previously the criminal justice system has evolved beyond the quest for revenge and more for actual justice. But I honestly have no idea where me being locked in a cell with two nutjobs armed with machetes fits into it as at no point did I question their guilt. Everyone's sense of what constitutes justice is different. You seem to have set the decapitation of someone as a precedent for capital punishment, but how would you feel if an active service person were to then face the same punishment, set down by precedent in this case, for the decapitation of say a small girl at a wedding through a drone strike? I'm speaking hypothetically before you all get your knickers in a twist, but would you genuinely ask yourself what was worse? The decapitation of a child who had no part to play and didn't want any part to play in a silly geopolitical chess game, or the decapitation of a person who joined active service knowing full well the decision may cost him his life at some point. Of course, through patriotic emotion, you wouldn't consider execution appropriate in the case of the small girl. You see what I mean, emotion clouds proper judgement and prevents people from taking into the consideration the full consequences of these decisions down the line. The irony is if you want to adopt this eye for an eye mantra, you will have taken one significant step toward the sharia law state people like this would be seeking. A fairly counter productive and ultimately self- defeatist an action then.
I would put these two in the same bracket as cold blooded child killers. Came here with the sole purpose of bringing terror to the streets of our country in quite possibly the vilest way imaginable. But thats fine, we'll provide free board and lodgings with emergency medical care and luxuries for the rest of their lives for the crime Thats what rankles me Especially when you see a decorated war veteran having to sell his medals to pay for care in his old age
bring back the old ball and chain gangs 50 years of physical back breaking work. death penalty isnt a solution, they would be getting off lightly and it isnt a deterrent in any case
Firing squad with the bullets dipped in pigs blood just before the sentence is commuted. No Heaven , no martyrdom , no virgins , no problem.
Yes, because each case would subsequently be judged in exactly the same way wouldn't it ......... just as they are now
That has certainly always been my view.I suppose in this particular case where no doubt as to guilt is possible it does alter the situation somewhat.
But the problem being, you can't bring the death penalty in for a one of case...I would love to see these two scumbags suffer greatly, and it wouldn't bother me one bit if they came to a sticky and painful end. However, in my opinion it would be a massive step backwards to bring back state execution..
My problem with what you said is this. You come on here calling people simpletons if they show any form of emotion towards what has happened, ffs an innocent man has had his head chopped off in public by a couple of ****s & you would have to be a robot not to feel anything towards that. Maybe you can sit back & take some type of ****ing Dr Spock perspective of it all but don't expect every other person to fall into the same bracket. If it had been a member of your own family that it had happened to would be so smugly logical about it all? I suppose since his family would be full of emotion regarding this that they would be simple as well eh? Anyway, I'm not here to argue about it & hope that this kind of thing doesn't become a regular occurrence on our streets though I wouldn't bet against the likes of it happening again. Going to work, that's my last comment on it all.
He does it on almost every thread he touches .......... he thinks it makes him appear more mature than the rest of us.
Don't worry yersel mate, the death penalty would be a few seconds suffering ........... these people will suffer for the rest of their sad lives. When they realise they're on their own, and that their god can't help them, their 'cause' won't seem quite so worthwhile. Oh yeah, and they'll get stabbed, beaten, scalded and pissed on at every opportunity, don't believe for a second that the warders will make that impossible. Prison guards are some of the most ****ed up and nasty people I've ever worked with.
That is Jacky the mag, he maybe a mag but no fool, he has a very strong opinion on many a thing, and i'm not defending him, but he's no thicko, maybe just thinks a bit different, as he's also a fan of the, let's say other half in the Irish conflict. Anyhow, the op is kind of wrong, there was no beheading, there nearly was. I'm not justifying it, just facts.... Pessonally, a tyre, an ants nest, and rope would do it...think about it/
