Will have to go and see this even if it only goes through the Wessie region. I saw Wiggins I think last time there was a UK national cycle race round here plus a few other known names, can't remember which one it was but it started in Hull Queens Gardens so I was at the start, went home and then they got to Beverley so saw two parts of the same stage. That lass from the car shows Vicky Butler Henderson (I think thats her name) was at the start at Hull plus a few random celebrities, might have even been the king ***** there, this was about 4 years back.
Read in the paper they're trying to get it to come across the Humber Bridge. I dunno how they'll incorperate it, but it would be good for East Yorkshire to get in on the act. But i wouldn't hold your breath.
The first day is usually a parade of the riders, to introduce them. Thereafter it wont be a hilly route with lots of climbs - more likely a spriters finish with maybe some lumps in. There isn't anything big enough round these parts to tax the riders! Amazing news, and while it does cost a region to bid for the depart it is a fantastic coup that is only possible through recognition of a British winner and Cav's sprint dominance. I'll be there - and if the olympics are anything to go on (and the public's goodwill still in the memory) this could be an epic turnout. If Brad or Froomy win 2013 this will be a massive event. The Tour is up there with the world's biggest sporting events and it is the only sport where you can touch the participants and get close enougth to look them in the eye. Incredible news, and trust me - it will be like nothing else the area has ever seen. I'm not kidding, either!
You have to be - 1) at the start; or - 2) at the finish - to see anything much. Out on the road, the race just flashes past. You see more of the rolling road-closing cop motorbikes than owt else. Then the team cars, after the riders. Still - go for it. The Tour of Britain was here, in Norfolk, the last two years, and well worth the effort of getting a look. Allez! Allez!
