Yes, but you seem to be the only person on here who dislikes all Tarantino films.

Hannibal :D and you've reinforced my point, why does nobody know about this series? It got such little fanfare.

You might find it hard to believe but Mads Mikkelson is much better than Anthony Hopkins and is cast perfectly in line with the books. The series has exceptional production values and also stars Laurence Fishburn. I couldn't recommend a boxset purchase enough.

Can't limit it to 10 and these are only a drop in the ocean.
Also please excuse the accuracy of the genres - I couldn't be arsed to be pedantic.

War; Conspiracy, Waterloo, Schindler's List, Southern Comfort, Lawrence Of Arabia

Science Fiction; War Of The Worlds (Spielberg version), Donnie Darko

Horror / Ghost films; The Blair Witch Project, The Innocents, Rosemary's Baby, The Haunting (original), The Changeling

Drama; A Streetcar Named Desire, Sweet Smell Of Success, The Pawnbroker, Twelve Angry Men, Who's Afraid Of Virginia Woolf

Action Drama; Jaws, Midnight Express, Papillon, The Odessa File, Sexy Beast

Some weird choices here, so here's mine in no particular order:

    1. Apocalypse Now (great story, great filming, dark, funny, just superb)
    2. Starship Troopers (brilliant sci fi romp)
    3. Sharknado (top of the class in its genre)
    4. Blades of Glory (just reading the name makes me laugh)
    5. Anchorman (Ferrell at his comedy best)
    6. The whole Bourne set of 4 (brilliant action films)
    7. All 6 Star Wars (I don't care, I love them all, brilliant films)
    8. All of the Matrix (excellent Sci Fi, great SFX, great story)
    9. Full Metal Jacket (ARE YOU ****TING ME?!)
    10. Sleepless in Seattle (makes me cry everytime)

As a matter of curiosity all these films being watched do we mean we actually go to the pictures or are we mostly talking about DVD's and streaming films?

Well, most of my films were before I was born, so mostly on DVD or streaming.

I go to the cinema every now and then. Last thing I went to see was Django Unchained.

How someone rates a film doesn't depend on how well it's made, but what it means to them at a certain stage in their life. For example, I loved Big, Turner and Hooch and The man with one shoe when growing up. So I naturally like any Tom Hanks film.

    Saving Private Ryan
    Fight Club
    Forest Gump
    Alien/Aliens
    Jurassic Park
    Django
    Inglorious Basterds
    The Thing
    Predator
    True Lies

All these films blew my mind after first watching them.

I think Big is underrated, and if I'd remembered it yesterday I'd have mentioned it on the comedy thread. An excellent performance from Hanks.

Interesting that you put Changeling in Horror / Ghost - i suppose it is a Horrific Story , i nearly never bothered to watch it because Jolie starred in it and was soooo glad i did - Eastwood did a fine job too

Last one I saw at the flicks was Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy with Gary Oldman and I have to say it was not a patch on the Alec Guinness BBC version big screen or not.

Actually, I tell a lie - the last film I saw at the cinema was The Great Gatsby (for College, not of my own accord). It was actually a pretty good film to be honest.

Ok I guess I kind of asked for that but seeing as I'd never heard about it, it could have been called virtually anything and not necessarily have been that obvious! :embarrassed:

I've only actually read one of the books because I didn't really like the style it was written in, I found it a bit pretentious but maybe they're not all like that and I just wrongly assumed they were. You do generally expect most authors to have a certain style though, so I never bothered with any of the others.
